Sat out side in the sunshine with our golden retriever. The food was excellent and the beer was most refreshing, I had the four bean chilli.

Popped into the lovely looking Oakover Arms, the welcome was four blank expressions looking up from their table. "Are you open" I asked, after a moments deliberation from the seated expressionless staff and "yeah" was the response! Anyhoo, after a brief discussion about the temperature...of the coffee, we ordered a couple of coffees and looked around for a seat, every table had a reserve sign on it. "Can we sit inside?" I enquired. "Table one!" a stoney faced young lady replied. Shortly after we sat down, a local family popped in. I thought they were royalty by the response of Miss Stoney face, she was happy for them to sit anywhere! I have no idea why we were treated with such indifference! I won't be troubling them again!More

We were stopping near by and our hosts recommended this pub as one of the best locally for a good dinner out. We were not disappointed. I would recommend calling before hand to book a table, as it was full on Thursday evening. The staff...were friendly and welcoming. There were only two front of house who worked really hard and service was quick and efficient. The food was excellent. I would recommend the fish and chips. Portion size was generous and great chips. All cooked to perfection. Deserts were yummy. Over all a nice experience. I couldn't find a menu online and as such one is attached to this review. You will see options were very reasonably priced. Would recommend to all.More

Googled places to eat near to where me and my husband were staying. Found this place - excellent food, service and price - can't fault it. It is also a B&B so will consider this in the future.

Great beer and the the slow cooked belly pork with black pudding and apple gravy plus all trimmings was amazing. Best ever. If you don't have a very large appetite have the smaller portion. We went large and the landlady kindly wrapped about half which...we bought back. Nice atmosphere, walks in all directions from the car park. Recommend.More

Cosy pub in quiet village, looking over sheep grazing in fields. Restaurant quality food at lower than average pub prices.

We called in here at 15:03 on a Sunday after 2 carvery lunches. Rudely told they stop serving at 15:00 yet there was a lady just helping herself to the carvery as we asked…..& all the food was still cooked, served under the lights. What...a waste!! They obviously haven’t been financially hit by closing during Covid-19 & don’t need the custom. Such a unfriendly welcome that we wouldn’t be bothering again. I’d suggest trying these instead The Coach & Horses, The Bowling Green or Bentley Inn where you’ll receive a super friendly welcome!More
