Popped in for lunch. Food was ok but very expensive for a club sandwich. Did have to wait a significant time for service at the bar despite the restaurant being quiet. Lovely surroundings though.

We enjoyed a great overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. Faultless service and good food. Friendly staff throughout and a comfortable bed. We would certainly book here again.

The hotel is in a fabulous location, it couldn't be much better. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, the food is great too. My stay was really relaxing, perfect for chilling out and idea for walking. The bits that could have been...better (which given the price tag may not have been expecting too much), was for a slightly more modern feel. The hotel and its fixtures and fittings are looking a bit tired. The room was adequate, I loved the natural light streaming through the wall of windows. It was spotless too. The bathroom wasn't as good, a very artifical light, it was small and VERY hot and stuffy. The shower was dissapointing, I've seen more efficient watering cans, I'm not sure it was a shower problem or water pressure. I suspect the latter because it was much the same when I turned the tap on. One other thing of note, there are a number of fire doors in the corridor to get access to the room. If anyone allows any of those doors to close of its own accord the resulting bang can take you by surprise! I needed a night away to relax and rewind, and I did so thanks to the staff for being so helpful. I'd stay there again, but possibly if offered to stay for a little less. Would I get married here? No, really not sure I would.More

Two visits - both for coffee. Great coffee, and the (young ) staff were friendly and professional. The menu looked good but we were self catering elsewhere.

The hotel is perfectly sited, a short walk from the Dovedale Stepping Stones Ilam village and Thorpe Cloud. The views from the hotel are superb, hills to the rear and the River Dove Valley to the front. All necessary COVID precautions are in place, which...was comforting. The COVID restrictions inevitably have some limited negative impact. For example, the restaurant menu (which was good) remained the same throughout our stay, but I believe that situation is already being addressed. Some of the rooms and decor appear a little tired and dated but this doesn't detract from the appeal of the hotel. All the staff are wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. We will certainly go back there.More

Shocking customer service,and the room was freezing cold,so much so that I could actually see my breath,I complained at 4;00 am via the phone and nothing happened so I went to reception and complained at 5:00 am ,the night porter did nothing I eventually fell...asleep with all my clothes on including my coat and D J plus three pairs of socks four shirts and four pairs of pants.In the morning I complained again and they did nothing so when I got home I penned a complaint and sent it off and didn’t get a reply. I’m absolutely seething and considering I paid £160 for a one night stay I feel somewhat annoyedMore
