The three of us had lunch in this very unique restaurant which was absolutely wonderfully cooked and presented. Started with vegetable quiche and salad, scallops and pate of the house - all super. Then had beef cheeks and vegetables and burger with foie gras! Then...cafe gourmand, 4 cheeses with salad and walnuts and far breton. Very hot food, lovely hostess and waitress. Lots to see in restaurant with swords, helmets and a knight in shining armour. We have already booked to go back.More

Loved this little restaurant in the village square. Open unusually for France in the evening too. Lovely Nadine is at the front of house and her husband is the chef. The food was tasty and all was sourced locally. The medieval themed room was spotless...and had a great ambience. We visited twice ..after the small Tuesday night local market in the square. So glad we fou d this place and will hopefully be returning soon.More

Called in for a light lunch - we both had the bruschetta of scallops with ham, veg, rice and a delicious ‘beure blanc’ sauce. With a glass of white wine and a coffee to follow. Wonderful French at its best! Service was also friendly and...timely! What a bargain- it would be twice the price in the uk for half the quantity if you could find it!!More

Great meal, lovely friendly service, can't comment on atmosphere because it was late September and we were the only ones there. Great decoration and I'm sure it's fun when full.

We arrived at lunch time, checked with trip advisor. From the outside it was not beckoning, once in the door you could feel the charm, sevice was great, food you could not fault, plate of the day was all good, so much so that we...also had a dessert.More

We ate at the Chaudron Magique for lunch on a rainy Sunday. Service was excellent and they couldn’t have been more obliging, considering the young age of our two kids. The owner was charming and very personable and made sure we were looked after. The...only mistake we made is that we ordered a starter and a main course-they were absolutely huge so beware! Great place to eat!More

We have eaten in this restaurant several times and always had a lovely meal. The menu is based on traditional Medieval fare so more towards meat eaters than vegetarian, but then that can be said of most restaurants in Brittany! The owner is a lovely...lady who really makes you feel welcome and has worked very hard on the decorative style of the restaurant. She has even painted the tables with Medieval scenes. The restaurant is in the beautiful Medieval town of Moncontour which has cobbled streets and the loveliest of buildings. Well worth a visit if you are passing through our part of Brittany.More

A family run restaurant with a medieval flavour in the centre of the town. A good choice of food with very friendly service. It was encouraging that all the other diners were French. If you wish you can dress-up in mock costume, as one group...did. The old armour and other artifacts added to the atmosphere.More

The 4 of us decided on lunch at this restaurant, which is located in the town square. Some had the burger and fries, I had the vegetable soup, plus coffees. All very tasty and good value.
