Me and Wife came here on a date/weekend getaway. Ride a gondola up! don't be afraid of heights. You pay for a ride up $$ but the restaurant has reasonable prices. Good burgers!

When the Summit House Restaurant was redone (I forget how many years ago) it was fantastic. The food was on par with a very good restaurant in Seattle. The chef who ran the kitchen and the dining room was incredible. Those days are long gone. Now it's a good restaurant compared with places to eat at other ski resorts. The... More

As you'd expect, great views from the panoramic windows. The food is good, although some of our dishes had to go back to be reheated, and the portions are generous. Prices are quite high, but you are on top of a mountain and there is no competition.

While the food is pretty good, and pretty expensive, we don't (at all) go for the food. Whether grabbing lunch and a beer during ski season - or simply taking visitors to the most easily attained and spectacular view in the state - this is a wonderful destination. If you can accept an "awesome view" surcharge of about 75% -... More

Q: What are the elements of an epic restaurant? A: Location, Food, Service Summit House has the best location of any restaurant in Washington: perched on a steep ridge facing directly across from Mt. Rainier, with little birds outside that will fly right into your hand. The food is also great, waay better than any ski resort restaurant has the... More

Ski lodge is typically overpriced, but you'd expect to have a cheeseburger patty that's thicker than the tomato slice on it. The Asian food stations looked like they'd be good- but they were closed on the weekdays I was there. Also, I'm all for reducing plastic bottles but figure out a way to serve gatorade or powerade or equivalent from... More

I appreciate your thoughts about Campbell Lodge, I believe this is what you were speaking of and not Summit House. Campbell Lodge has the Asian station and smaller burgers. More

Pros: Experience - The Gondola ride to the restaurant beats a valet drop anyday! Ambience - the interiors are tasteful and warm Setting - the outside has the best view of Mt Rainier, but may get too cold/ wet too; the tables inside have good views too Cons: Slow - Inevitably a min 20 min wait at peak hours Pricey... If you are ever looking to do something really enjoyable and enjoy an incredible view, go to Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and take the gondola up to the Summit Restaurant. The ride up and the views of the Cascade Mountains (includes Mounts Rainier, Baker, St Helens, etc.), are breath taking. Winter rides are quite frigid, so dress appropriately. The summer... More

This is the highest restaurant in Washington, so you want clear skies, unless you are out riding the mountain, then it is about value for quality. The food is really good, slightly more expensive than you would expect for a mountaintop meal, but that is because they have a more upscale menu. I loved the elk and bison chili. If... More

It's more expensive but I'm not really surprised by that. The good was delicious and there was no way you could top the view. Also, the chipmunks up there are not afraid to approach or get close to you!
