Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great spot for a bite to each for lunch. We ordered the half lobster and 6oz steak with fries. The lobster was tasty and had loads of meat and the steak was cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly and we...received fantastic customer service, prices aren't to bad at all. The view is pretty good too.More

In a tourist town where everything is expensive, the Dockside Inn and their hearty, affordable breakfast is welcome treat. The service is a bit slow, but the staff is friendly and the $9.95 breakfast was filling and hearty. I would definitely go back.

This spot is lovely for looking out at the harbour over a meal. Sadly, the food was bad...I was unable to eat the clams that were old and stringy. The batter however was excellent so I enjoyed the batter and the fries. No staff came...to inquire if we were pleased with our meal. Upon completion a staff member did ask about out meal at which time the clams were mentioned. WELL she said thats not possible they just came in this morning. She said I had two legs and feet that walked and I should have found a server and mentioned the issue. I am physically challenged with difficulty walking without pain, however that should not have mattered. In short the service was bad and the attitude totally unacceptable. This person should have been let go on the spot. Instead, when we mentioned this to the manager(I think) the person at the cash...his attitude was not much better he made me feel like a criminal trying to get away with a free meal...he said WELL did you eat the fries? I said yes so he promptly added the cost of the fries to our bill. Unbelievable!More

After an interesting walking tour of Lunenburg, we had lunch at the Dockside after checking other eateries along the waterfront. As it was the day immediately after Cyclone Lee, many restaurants were recovering from power outage. I had a very delicious and fulfilling seafood chowder...bowl with lobster meats, scallops, mussels, halibut. The fish & chips was also nice and juicy. This was one of our best meal in the Maritimes.More

First of all, I am a nova scotia local and have gone to countless restaurants to get what i ordered today. the lady at the front of the store seems like she’s never worked with humans in her whole life, she should really be laid...off. Second, i paid $40 for 4 finger sized pieces of fish, a small fry and a beer. sign said Haddock tips, they were fish sticks. FORTY DOLLARS FOR ONE MEAL. fries and fish sold separately despite both being a smaller portion than my partners meal which was $12 cheaper. waitress warned other tables about prices but never told me i’d be charged $16 for the fish and $7 for a small fry. all around disgusting experience, if you’re visiting lunenburg go to ANY other restaurant literally any other.More

We had a lovely young waitress as our server. My wife ordered the lobster shrimp dinner and said it was delicious. I’m a meat and potatoes guy and had the hot hamburger, mashed potato dinner with graveyard. Nothing fantastic. Vegetables lacked flavour but came with...the meal. Overall I would rate this place as average except for the view.More

Go elsewhere. Visited on a gorgeous sunny day. It wasn't overly busy and now we know why. The front restaurant crew are incredibly rude and abrupt. We watched as the lady at the cash rude shouted at the two elderly ladies who were waiting for...seats ahead of us to "wait a minute". Anything but a nice welcome. We sat out on the balcony and while the two or three young female servers we saw waiting tables who were roughly in their 20s were just lovely, the older wait staff were rude. It was embarrassing to be a fellow Nova Scotian and watch the older staff treat patrons with a "sit down and shut up" attitude. At one point the serenity of the balcony atmosphere was broken by what sounded like a verbal argument between staff members inside. The food was awful. The seafood chowder wasn't a chowder at all. A mish-mash of flaked seafood in a water broth. The hamburger platter was more of a child size entree. Great place to go and have a drink with a nice view - if you don't mind the staff who seem irritated that you've walked in. But definitely eat elsewhere. Our bill for a beer, a glass of wine, a scallop appetizer, a hamburger platter, and a cup of "chowder" was $78. Could have had a better lunch at a nearby gas station for a fraction of that.More

My wife and I had lunch here today and we are so glad we shared the soup special and the salmon dinner rather than purchasing 2 entrees. The chicken and vegetable soup was tasteless — they could’ve used dishwater it was so bad. The only...vegetable in the soup was carrots. The salmon was obviously frozen, and tasteless. A little bit of maple syrup poured on the top; and mashed potatoes, were instant mashed potatoes; and the vegetable was a frozen mix of peas and carrots. Having eaten in the Maritime provinces for the last month this was undoubtedly the worst meal we had. The only reason I gave this place 2 star rating was because it did have a view. My mistake was not checking TripAdvisor to see what a low rating this restaurant had compared to others. The only good thing I accomplished today was as I exited a gentleman came in to look around, and I took him inside and said quietly “do not eat here.” And he took my advice. That was my good deed for the day.More

I was travelling with my 2 friends who visited me to explore the maritimes. I took them to Lunenburg also to see what really is people are bragging about Lunenburg. Yes! the town is spectacular expect one bad experience is bad restaurant we went into, "The Dockside Inn and Restaurant". We went in there hoping to get a good seafood and eat in their waterview veranda. When we came in...there were no one eating in the restaurant. Makes you wonder why, that the view from the balcony is stunning. I saw people from the kitchen took a peek and anxious who are coming in. Sure, we sat down and made our order of Fish and Chips, Seafood platter, and seafood chowders. We were so excited knowing that Lunenburg is a seaside town. To our disappointment, the food came and not hot enough! Worst thing was Fish and chips were soakin' with grease and think batter. Chowder was cool and the scallops are overcooked, shrunk and chewy. The seafood platter was cool and overcooked and dried. Veggies were oxidized. I did not eat it all! I know what's good food! I called the server and make a point to the food wasn't up to the standard and she denied and that it's all hot and good. My girlfriend ate some of it because she's a diabetes and really craving for food! but most of the food were not eaten. Seems like the food was reheated in a microwave..taste awful and feels and looks like in a seniors nursing home style. (seniors home food sometimes better than it) We went and pay in the cashier and to our disgust, the cashier and the server not even giving a little incentives for us ... I even gave $2 to the server. :-( I travelled around the world and I never experience that bad food and service anywhere else except that restaurant!
