I was here over the weekend. And I am so disappointed in the service I received. After 15 mins line up to get seated. The hostess, Carmelia, tooks my name and bluntly told me "on side walk" x 2 as she pointed the fingers. So...I waited for good 45 -50 mins under the hot sun at 2pm and didn't get call when everyone else came after us got seated. I thought these people had reservation so I patiently wait. While waiting, I saw lot of customers left and empty tables, but still no sign of my name was called. I then moved my waiting spot to the shaded right side of the restaurant patio which was still visible to the hostess in case she called. Another good 25-30 mins wait had passed, still no call from the hostess. Finally, I couldn't wait anymore, I approached hostess podium and I saw her notebook where she used to jog down customer's name. My name was crossed out without being called, and there were few other customer's names below me were crossed out as well like they were serviced. I pointed out to her when she came over to the podium few minutes after I was there. She never apologized or explained to me regard to making us wait and why my name was crossed when she never called us. Camelia then continued took out 3 menus, and put it on the table across from her podium and left. I patiently wait for her again as I think she needed to grab silverwares to set up my table. But Carmelia never came back. I finally help myself, called my husband and son to sit at the table she had put the menus on. I requested to talk to the owner or manager after my lunch was served, but the waitress said either the owner nor the manager were available to talk. The waitress suggested I should talk to Carmelia about the incident. Carmelia did came out and told me that her reason being rude to me was her lack of English. I told her "lack of English is not a reason to be rude to someone. I have been travelled to differently places where English was not available and yet people still able to give excellent service. It is very unprofessional of her to give me this kind of service and I don't think I did anything to receive this kind of treatment. English is definitely not a reason for her to being rude, treated, and talk to me in condescending way". She apologized. However, the harm had already been done. I don't think Camelia realized her encounter with us leave us very bad memory. Before the luncheon, I was so looking forward and excited to go to Microbrasserie la Memphre for lunch. I was hoping this will be a highlight of my trip. However, it is such a downer to see the restaurant didn't not lived up to their name and high ratings. Instead, it left a very bad memory in our vacation book. And it left me wonder why Ms. Camelia treated us in that way? Was it because we were the only Asian that day? Or was it we were an English speakers? Either way, I don't think anyone was deserved to be treated in such a way. What unpleasant experience we had.More
