We started with Blackberry Martini's. We had the Deep Fried Brie cheese with a jelly and lamb and goat cheese in FILO pastry. We then had the Chicken Oscar with twice baked potatoe. Everything was so tasty. The service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

The food was excellent. The service was great. The waiter Mike was very friendly and helpful. The building itself was worth the visit alone. I also appreciated the displays from local artists.

I came with 45 ski club friends and they handled our group wonderfully. The food and service was outstanding with a friendly and warm atmosphere. I risked trying the buffalo rib eye (new to me) and was so glad I did. Definitely worth going out of your way for.

My boyfriend and I visited Strands for the first time. We were seated immediately and our server came over quickly. Great rundown on the menu, being our first visit. Our server Mike was exceptional and the food was awesome! Very homey atmosphere at Strands!

A cute rock door stop painted like a cat greets you at the front door of this quaint old house restaurant and taper candles glow on every table. Loved every bite of this meal! We each had one of the spring 3-course specials. Between the 2 of us we had the orange carrot soup, spinach Caesar salad, venison pot pie... More

If you are visiting Invermere, Radium Springs or Panorama or even Banff, you should come out to Strand's. We were having trouble finding a good restaurant in town and came across this one. From the time we called to make reservations to the time we stepped out after dinner, the entire experience was delightful. The restaurant itself is beautiful because... More

It is rare these days to be able to consistently count on helpful yet subtle service, beautifully prepared food and an amazingly extensive wine cellar! Ski club group dinner for 45 people. Friendly staff. We had a selection of 2 appetizers and 3 main courses. The buffalo ribeye was cooked medium rare as ordered and quite tasty.

Strand’s overlooks the business section of Invermere and offers a commanding view of the Rocky Mountains. Today, as yesterday, Strand’s is an integral part of Valley history. It was built in 1912 as the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Ritchie. At that time Mr. Richie owned the Livery Stable in Invermere and did heavy hauling with his team and wagon. He later became a prominent Valley rancher.

The home was purchased by Dr. and Mrs. Filmer Coy around 1920. “Doc” Coy, as he was affectionately known, was for many years the only medical practitioner between Cranbrook and Golden. He set aside one room of his home for use as his consulting-study and many of his patients were examined and treated there. Dr. and Mrs. Coy were very influential and highly respected Valley citizens. Dr. Coy attained high military office during the Second World War.

strands-08The Ian Weir family purchased the home about 1946 and three generations of Weirs enjoyed its beauty and comfort. In 1979, the home was purchased by Tim Strand and he opened Strand’s Old House Restaurant in June 1980 with Chef Tony Wood. Renovations and furnishings reflect the historical integrity of the home and, in line with its rich heritage, Tim Strand named the dining areas the Ritchie, Coy and Weir Rooms, and a fourth dining room Harrington named after the maiden name of Tim’s mother.

Executive chef Tony Wood originally hails from New Zealand and has been an integral part of Strands since its inception. In 1992, Tony expanded on his partnership role and became the sole proprietor of Strands.
