I have been to this place several times and love the prawn dinner. The wasabi dipping sauce is to die for. I would say best ceasar salad in Port Alberni for sure.

When was the last time you ate in an old church ?!? The Bare Bones in Port Alberni (yes good old PA has really grown up !) is an excellent purveyor of fish dishes - we went traditional fish and chips but you can have your fish done several different ways and they were all delicious. Make this a "must... More

After seeing all the great reviews, I was looking forward to fish & chips, with a good beer. To start, the welcome was rather cool, but I still wanted their reported great food. However, when I asked for a beer, all they had were generic American & Molson beers, and few of those. They do not offer anything on tap,... More

I had the 2 piece cod and chips. My wife the one piece. Some of the best fish I've had on trip! Also got Cesar salad rather than Cole slaw and it was very good too. Fries were ok. Limited seating so you may have to wait a.bit depending on time of day. One bit of advice most chairs are... More

Was planning a trip to Vancouver Island, and would be going through Port Alberni, so looked on line for somewhere to stop for lunch. Bare Bones Fish and Chips sounded interesting, however, there was no menu on line. I contacted them through messenger, and they replied by sending a photo of their menu. They also recommended we make a reservation,... More

Popped in here 20 minutes before they were due to close, but still no problem eating in, and no rush to finish and let them close. The menu is fish (surprise!), with the choice of cod, halibut or salmon, and also a choice of how you wanted it - in English batter, pano breadcrumb, or grilled. Having chosen the cod,... More

Looking for a great stop between Tofino and Naniamo, this is it. Ambiance is cute, former Church, service is great and most important, the fish was excellent. We shared the sample among four with a few additions. Fish can be ordered prepared a number of ways to meet your desires. Ranges from shrimp, to cod, to salmon, to halibut, etc.... More

Friends recommended this place to us the place was an old church which has been renovated into a restaurant which looks great. There fish is fresh and tasty the batter was nice but not like you would get in the UK even though they tell you it is on the menu. It made a rainy afternoon go past very quickly.
