We ate here in the summer on their patio for dinner a couple years ago, and it was full. The kitchen was slammed and buckled under pressure. I ordered a Cioppino. It was missing shrimp and mussels, unlike the order from the table next to mine, despite clearly being mentioned on the menu. I asked our server, what's up with... More

We enjoyed excellent service, provided by Jenni. The view was beautiful and the food delicious on a cold and windy day in Sidney. Great little pub!

Okay, this place must be doing something right as it was very busy at lunchtime. Our party pitched up without a booking and were assured we'd get the next table. Fine, we'll wait, it's to be expected. However, having to wait near the washrooms (and other guests trying to get past), our kids getting restless, hungry bellies and after frequent... More

We stopped in at the Rum Runner to kill a bit of time before a flight out of YYJ and had a beer and couple of appetizers. We were seated in the restaurant side which had a lot of really nice natural light and a decent atmosphere. The yam fries were really yummy and spinach and artichoke dip was one... More

We stopped here for a meal after a stroll along the water front at Sydney. The location is great and the menu looked good, but the actual food was a little disappointing. Certainly not the worst pub food we have ever had (many in the U.K. are much worse) but by Canadian standards a bit below par.

90 minute + wait for patio service, no apologies, no discount, food cold and poor. This place has lost it completely, no manager to talk to, waiters running around with no idea what's going on. Stay away until they get new management.

Don't bother making the trek to experience their happy hour. No food or wine specials. Beer deals are limited and martinis are a whooping .25 cents off. A shame - a decent pub but lots of other pub choices in Sidney for happy hour. We had one drink and left.

After a long walk along the ocean, a friend and I stopped here for an early dinner. We ordered the cheese board. The cheese was terrific - a nice variety of locally sourced cheeses. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't enough bread - and they charged extra for another piece. We both had local beer. It was, quite... More

The Rumrunner was a good spot for dinner. An adjoining sports bar offered pub food. Service was good and surroundings pleasant.

I’ve never reviewed a restaurant twice before but after another feast at this seaside pub-style restaurant, I feel morally obligated to share my experience again. Entrusted with the pleasurable task of entertaining two visitors from England, a visit to Sidney-by-the-Sea was obviously on the list. It’s been a particularly wet October but on Tuesday, to everyone’s delight, the sun broke... More

Description
Since 1990, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has served delicious seafood and West Coast cuisine in a spectacular setting along the Sidney waterfront at picturesque Port Sidney Marina. Patrons enjoy a warm ambience, great food, and unforgettable views of the ocean, Gulf & San Juan Islands and Mount Baker.

The cozy restaurant and bar both boast warm feature fireplaces, and in warmer weather the two outdoor patios allow diners the opportunity to enjoy sunshine and sea breezes. "Staff are friendly and cheerful, and we have a great kitchen staff," "Our pub menu is first class." At the full-service bar, customers can choose from a large selection of beverages - there's local and import beer in the bottle and on tap, as well as a wide selection of wines.

Owner Bill Singer worked for 14 years in the Oak Bay Beach Hotel's venerable Snug before opening the Rumrunner in 1990. Since then, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has become a favoured spot for locals, a regular stop for visiting boaters, and a great find for visitors to Sidney.
