Excellent quality of food and good service. The Mushroom Wellington very tasty as were the Haddock & Chips. Went on a Friday evening, staff all pleasant and helpful not overpowering but there if needed. Our party of 6 were all satisfied. Only downside, thought it a little pricey.

Exceptional food and service. Will continue to go. Highly recommended. Superb village pub with spectacular amenities with 5 Star food without a doubt. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble.

visited last night in a party of 4. been a Tuesday night it was very quiet and only one other table was occupied. this said we were not rushed and were given time between courses. the menu is a step above your normal pub food. of our 4 different starters I think I was unlucky. I had the chickpea and... More

Roast beef advertised as served pink on the menu was definitely not, although the two who had it said it was OK if rather gristly. Slow cooked belly pork hadn't been cooked long enough to render down the fat to make the meat soft and flavoursome or the rind even slightly crackly, it was cooked - just. Sausages from Sykes... Picked the pub for location as we were meeting friends from Bradford and we were in York. Very good meal, wine and service. We had a lot to talk about and were not rushed during or after the meal.

Had a spot of lunch on the Friday we arrived. Had a steak ciabatta and a couple of beers. Was really tasty and great value for money. The others with me also complimented their food! Came back on the Sunday for dinner. Me and my partner had a sharing platter. Gammon, pork belly and beef with all the trimmings. Was... More

This was a place plucked off the map to meet up for Sunday lunch and we were really pleasantly surprised. Tucked away in a village setting it is a very nice pub/restaurant with a traditional feel. The food was of good quality and very nicely presented. My husband, son and his partner had the traditional Sunday roast dinner and said... More

My wife and I visited last November and had a lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. Whilst we were the only diners initially, there was still a substantial menu available. Both my wife and I had starter and a main course and I had a sweet. The food was excellent and we both enjoyed our meals. As it was a lunch... More

We've eaten here before and the food was excellent so were really disappointed with our meal last night. The charcuterie starter came on a board with salami, proscuitto and chorizo, a pinch of pea shoots, four pieces of dryish bread and that was it, no butter, no plates and all for £14.95! We were too busy chatting so just waited... More

We enjoyed a quiet Tuesday night and the food was fantastic. Steak and ale pie was delicious and the real ales were perfect. Service was friendly, professional, and efficient and sitting next to the open fire was a delight. Would definitely recommend a visit as the menu is excellent; lots of variety and something for everyone with a choice of... More
