The pub itself is lovely - very cosy and nicely done. The service was excellent start to finish. Very attentive and friendly staff. The food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his however we both agreed the gnocchi was standout. I have been thinking about...More

We visited The Griffin this weekend with a friend as we have heard great reports. Whilst we enjoyed our meal, we do feel that it may well be over-rated or resting on its laurels somewhat. 2 main issues - poorly trained staff & one not-so-good...More

Don't bother. Not what it once was, service is awful, condescending and led by hipsters who look like they escaped from a Justin Bieber video shoot. Whoever is managing it or owns it now has made a mess of it. There is no "pub," per...More

Our first visit to The Felin Fach Griffin, food superb, as was the wine, lovely dining room, nice atmosphere. Our only criticism was that service to begin with was a little slow, once things got going however our waitress was superb and we had a...More

This has to have been one of the most disappointing visits to a restaurant I have ever experienced. Firstly I will say that my mother rang and booked on the morning in regards to availability for lunch and they were accommodating in ensuring that a...More

We've eaten here about 4 or 5 times now and every single time it's been outstanding. A drink by the lovely fire is always a must, I always enjoy the relaxed nature of the service; placing our order whilst relaxing on the sofas. One of...More

We stayed at the Griffin on a Sunday evening and were pleased to see it so full (even though the birthday party lunch group was still in full and noisy swing at 7.30). After a welcome drink in the bar by the blazing log fire...More

We were recommended this place by locals who we brought for dinner. This place is a very upmarket and attractive pub with a restaurant. There was not a massive menu but enough of a choice for us. I went for Ox Tongue as a starter...More

Booked a table here as it was conveniently located as a halfway point to meet some friends. When we arrived, the welcome was somewhat laid back -we were totally ignored. After waiting at the bar for several minutes for someone to serve us (3 staff...More

Dear Ryan We don't impose any effective dress code on guests. Trousers probably best at this time of year, but no requirement for a coat or for a tie. We just hope you have a good supper with us. Please do call us if we... More

Description
The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal. The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.
