Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our second visit to Loughcrew camping this season and it never disappoints. The site has everything for a weekend of camping. Shower/bathroom facilities are excellent and are spotless. The coffee shop provides a great selection of coffees and some very tasty homemade cheesecakes. The owners...are very friendly. A great way to spend a bank holiday weekend .More

We stayed here in a Yurt for 2 nights. Very happy with everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. The yurts were lovely and cosy, beds and duvets were perfect. Everything was provided for a campfire. The nearby toilets and showers were clean and adequate...although there was an issue with low water supply to the shower. That said we were in a heat wave. The campers kitchen was very well equipped and clean. Very happy with our stay here.More

We did a weekend glamping in the yurts with a visit to Tayto Park for the kids. It was absolutely brilliant craic, the yurts are magnificent and we had the best night's sleep ever in the big double bed....would love to know what mattress they...use! Sitting around the campfire every night, telling stories and making s'mores, then into the yurts with stoves lit to keep us warm...it was just heaven. The day at Tayto Park was a blast, and we walked up to the megalithic tombs on Sunday morning which were unspoiled and had a real sense of history. Highly recommended.More

Just back from a 2 night stay in Loughcrew’s yurts with 3 adults and 6 children aged 10 - 18. We went to tayto park on Saturday which was only 40 mins away. Everyone had a fantastic time sitting around the fire pit at night...roasting marshmallows while the stove kept the yurts cosy inside. The main bed was like sleeping in a marshmallow. Nearby town of Oldcastle had plenty of lovely pubs and takeaways. Place was spotless and had a very relaxed atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back to see more of the local beauty spots as we only had time to take a walk up to local passage tombs which were stunning.More

Situated down a very narrow lane - with grass growing down the middle. This is a small site for campervans / caravans - very peaceful. Good campers kitchen area. Toilets basic but clean. Lovely shower. This will not suit everyone but if you want peace...and quiet, and be able to see the stars at night due to no light pollution then this is for you.More

Just back from 2 nights in Caravan. The approach road is not fit for caravans or motorhomes, it is the width of a car.The caravanpark is no more than a rough car park .There is one shower and one toilet for men. And a wash...hand basin.which was overflowing when I visited, There is one shower and two toilets and a wash hand basin in the ladies ,the hand drier wasn't working and the toilet cubicle door catch didn't work no way to lock door while using the toilet. Restaurant closes at 5oc. No sign on the recommend road to the site, very low power wattage trips very easy. The WiFi doesn't work in the caravan park, only in the courtyard which was full of day trippers.Would have stayed only 1 night but booked for 2 so stayed 2. Won't be back. Inclosed some photos of gents toilet and caravan park/carpark.More

Just back from 3 nights tent camping at loughcrew and we can't wait to go back. Owners and staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. Fantastic facilities which are kept very clean, there always seems to be someone cleaning and plenty of...hand sanitising stations. You do have to step on to the road briefly to reach the tent field but the tent area has its own toilets and free showers which are like new! We have 3 small kids (<1, 3 and 6) and we were a little worried before we went, but honestly it didn't bother us at all. Very safe and quiet road. We also did the free tour of the cairns on Saturday which was very informative and well worth doing. We went back up the cairns at sunset as well. This is a definite must if visiting loughcrew megalithic centre. The views at sunset are beautiful. Only a few small gripes which the campsite can't be blamed for, one being gone off food being left in the campers kitchen when people have gone home and also people making excessive noise after 11pm (luck of the draw with who is there when you are!) Security do go around and did ask people to be quiet which we were very grateful for with small kids who need their sleep! Another thing we noticed but again didn't bother us was that there was no baby change unit, it's just an unusual thing not to see nowadays. Overall this is by far one of the best campsites we have stayed in and amazing value for money. We just wish we had booked here when heading to Tayto park in September. Hoping the site we have booked won't let us down now in comparison! Recommended things to do with kids: *Fore abbey/St. Feicin's walk - this one surprised us, lovely little fairy village and bee hut as well as the old ruins to explore *Mellows adventure centre - great day out with so much to do for kids of all ages, the bouncy castle we a huge hit with our smallies *Loughcrew gardens (fairy clue trail is fun even for the adults) - the 12 ants and Alice in wonderland door way were my personal favourites *Loughcrew cairns at sunset with a torchlight walk home in the dark 🥰 dont forget the bedtime story and hot chocolate after!More

We stayed for 8 nights in July as part of a group. The owners were more than helpful during our stay and extremely friendly. Everything you need is within the complex. The shower areas were kept spotless throughout the day. Large kitchen area and plenty...of sockets to charge phones/powerbanks. Coffee shop is very well stocked. The site is very well run, a credit to the owners and staff. Will be back!More

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the Glamping Yurts. We are a family of 5. The kids just loved it. Beautiful Yurt. Spotless shower and toilet facilities. Fire pit, stove, bbq with wood provided. Communal kitchen, games room and play area. The owners...were just lovely and so helpful. They came round to make sure everything was ok and to have a chat. So much to do in the Area. The Cairns themselves are about 20 mins walk away up the hill. Amazing place to see 18 counties from one spot. Breathtaking views. Loads in the area for kids. Molly Moo's farm was a big hit. Dun na Sí park was great too. We also did the Big Dig at Belvedere House in Mullingar with the School of Irish Archeology. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe as it was closed by the time we got back each day but we heard great reports. Overall a fantastic place. Lovely atmosphere. Great for families. We were sad to leave! Thanks to all at Loughcrew! We will be back! :)More

Haven't been to Newgrange so couldn't compare but loughcrew has a lovely feel about the place and the people who run the hostel were very helpful.
