Great food, service and staff

We arrived on Sunday 8 May, a little while before they opened, but we were given a seat, menus and drinks while we waiting for opening time. Excellent meal, excellent service and great staff who couldn't do enough for us. Great value for money too....We will definitely be back.More

First meal as foursome

My husband, two toddlers and I decided to stay local for our first meal out as a foursome post lockdown. My husband and I ordered the Prawns Pil Pil to share for starters at €9.95. They were very good. We then had a very long...wait (40minutes) for our mains, we ordered the steak sandwich (€21.95) and chicken and prawn stir fry (€21.95) and pasta for the toddlers. This is far too long a wait for two children under the age of 3 & a half who were ravenous by the time it arrived and parents who had to entertain them. Personally, I think service should be prioritised for children. This would make it a far more child friendly establishment. The food was very good, staff were friendly and interactive with the children but the wait was far too long for toddlers. Theirs could have been brought out ahead of our mains which would have helped the situation (pasta takes 10 minutes to cook). Please address this if you want parents with young children to frequent your place.More

Consistently top class service, food and hygiene

Have been eating here for many years and the standard of food, service, hygiene and value for money is hard to beat. The owners of this premises and staff know the business they are in and obviously care about their customers and repeat business.

Family visit

Lovely 3 courses with family 5 adults 1 child, good menu with variety. Great service from friendly staff in a nice place. Pricing reasonable, it was our first visit but won’t be our last

Friday after school

Lovely spot, great food & friendly staff. Prices reasonable... €124 dinner, dessert & soft drinks (2 adults & 3 kids)

Great service and Great food

First time we had been out for dinner since all the closures so we were a bit apprehensive. Great place to start. Spotlessly clean, super friendly staff and great food. Food was gorgeous. Nice touch including juice at table. Excellent service had lovely meal. Couldn’t...fault it. Wish we had somewhere as good near where we live.More

Sunday Lunch

1st time that i have eaten there even though i am in OLdcastle quite often. . will definetly eat there againmy sistre in law brought wu there found the food we quite excellent and the Staff were very attentive

Irish hospitality, cooking can be improved

We have been in oldcastle for a dinner and we have found this pretty restaurant in the center of town. Great Irish hospitality and kindness. We thank them for that. We think, in general, that this country need to improve its sort of cooking because...there are great fish and meat and also farmers vegetable. I think that in the future, with evolution and study, they can reach great result.More

Reasonable decent tasty fare!

My husband and I had dinner here on a Sunday. We live locally & haven't eaten here in quite a while but extended family were bringing back good reports to us so we decided to see what the fuss was about. My husband had the...roast beef and gravy with potatoes and vegetables @ €11.95. I had the salmon in herb crust with mushroom sauce with salad and chips €11.95. Both were served very promptly. I could have done with more mushroom sauce but no one came back to check were we OK mid-meal. I thought the piece of salmon was lovely. Very decent portions. We weren't able for dessert. We were just right with the mains. Think staff could be smilier😊 Overall, we'll return & would recommend if in the area.More

Burgers to die for!

My husband and i ate here recently on a friday night. Their burgers were great value and tasted amazing. The sides were great too with lovely big portions!

Hi, in answer to your question caffreys have all allergens clearly marked on their menu. I'm not sure as to whether they cater for gluten free or vegan diets but you could give them a call and they would be happy to help... More
