The food itself is great (but the apple pie with ice cream as dessert is hard to cut) , though the service is pretty cold. It's a pity to see they're(1 staff and 1 hostess) such in a rush (as serving 50 clients during X'mas...eve..) while there were only 2 tables (in total 4 customers) .More

I didn't know this restaurant a bit north of Brussels and close to Mechelen. Having been invite for a business lunch I couldn't have been more surprised about the quality and creativity of the food. Not to mention the artistic "mise-en-plat"s. The champagne aperitive came...with 2 excellent amuses. The business lunch consists of 2 starters and a main course plus dessert, all for a mere 50 EUR Especially when you know that it feels like you are having a reduced version of an excellent tasting menu. One starter was a wonderful white fish accompanied with vegetables. As this was a business meeting, I could not put the attention to the food it deserved. Hence my limited recollection of what exactly was on the plates. What I do remember is that it's a long time that a restaurant could blow me off my socks. In addition when you think you've had it with a specific course, some little extras are offered as the truffled potatoes with some (mini) ragout. This completed the excellent main course of deer. The coffee came with 2 little cakes (for lack of a better word for these exquisite "tartelettes") and a box of biscuits. Coffee is served twice, also something I've not seen anymore since along time. The Michelin guide states "At Kasteel Diependael one enjoys first and foremost the setting : the elegance of a country house is beautiful, the view that one has from the terrace and the veranda onto the garden is gorgeous". Well, I beg to differ. While this little castle and the terrace are a joy indeed, it is first and foremost the creative kitchen and the excellent food that should be put first ! This chef deserves my star whatever Michelin thinks of it. I didn't take any wine during the lunch so I can't comment on that part. However, as the champagne (as aperitive) couldn't enchant me, I keep some reserves on this department. The service was extremely friendly and genuine. Conclusion : I can't wait to go back !More

This restaurant is an oasis of wonderful food served in a tranquil surrounding. We dined here on a quiet Saturday evening. A la carte was not available and there was just one set menu to choose. We were happy to go for this as everything...sounded exciting. The staff was very happy to change one of the courses for one person in our party with a particular food allergy. The food is amazingly prepared and presented - almost artistically - and tastes supreme. What makes this place special is the spacious room which means the tables are not so close to each other as is so often the case these days. And beyond this the restaurant itself is surrounded by a beautiful designed garden which makes the whole experience even more special. Wonderful.More

Good, friendly service, quality products delivered on nice plates in a nice setting. Only one negative comment, we had the adapted wine selection and they managed to pour the second wine into the same glass as the first one. Again, this was the only comment....the food was great. we had the four-course menu with salmon (mmmmm), pheasant (perfect)..... So we really enjoyed the meal here.More

Kasteel Diependael is a 17th century chateau, surrounded by a moat, with a beautiful garden - a wonderful place for a romantic meal. The food is delicious, cooked to perfection and presented in a series of beautiful nouvelle cuisine dishes. The kitchen also happily created...vegetarian versions of any dish on the menu. The wine list is excellent. The service is friendly and not intrusive. Highly recommended, but probably not for anyone on a tight budget.More

The food was good and well presented (both worth repeating but good and well presented). However, we were disappointed with the wines chosen for our menu and the room... a cold, musty room...

An awesome setting for awesome food. Of all Michelin starred restaurants I've visited, this is certainly one of the most creative. Local flavours with innovative textures and combinations. A true sensorial experience well worth getting out of your way just to experience this. And, of...course, the service is irrepressible and always with a smile. Really top!More
