Campo Santo Stefano is a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by, and Le Cafe is the perfect place to be. Service is friendly and efficient, and although it can get very busy around mealtimes, I have never felt rushed or hurried. In fact far from it. Coffee is good and always comes with a jug of... The cakes were not freshly made, but pretty expensive. The service was friendly and competent. I would say, it is ok to drop by for a coffee/espresso only.

I've spent a considerable amount of time in Venice in the past 2 years and i've visited a lot of restaurants. This cafe/restaurant is popular with locals and the food is great. You'll find a lot of restaurants all over Venice, most of which sadly don't offer true, tasty italian food. This one is an exception. Id highly recommend the... More

No if your looking for excellent food in stunning surroundings with lovely staff and all at a very good price then this is the place. It can get very busy so don't think you will be in & out in half an hour but it is well worth the wait. The seafood dishes are unreal and the pasta is like... More

Dropped in for a pit stop but found the food lovely and the staff helpful and friendly, though they were surprised that we only wanted a sandwich and a coffee.

We were looking for a nice tea and found it. The staff were very hospitable, there was a choice of teas and a wide spread of cakes. Both tea and cakes were delicious. Price was high but so is everything in Venice. Highly recommended.

It is a nice location and the food and cafe are very good - it's just the service that is far from nice. Everything seems to be a burden. No smiles. No nice conversation. Just business. And tourists pay more than locals. Not fair. Stay away I would recommend.

We ate 2 cakes at Le Cafe with 2 latte macchiato. The ricotta cake is excellent. Well located and easy to find. Good place to stand for a while and reasonable prices.

Nice little dinner with my husband - great calamari dish and he had a very nice pizza. The service was great however it is extremely busy so sometimes the waiter needed to be reminded we were there! Good Aperol Spritzers too!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
