We ate well throughout our fortnight in this corner of France but this was undoubtedly the best meal of the holiday. We had the menu du jour which offers 4 courses with a limited choice for 23 euros during the week. There was a formule...offering 2 courses for 15 euros. There is an elegant dining room and the service is welcoming and professional. The food was prepared and presented to a very high standard. The starter was a chilled melon soup served with a soft poached egg and garnished with mussels & marigolds, which was delicious and very refreshing on a hot day. The main course was a simple steak served with a portion of aligot (mashed potato with cheese) but the quality of the meat and the perfection of the cooking made it outstanding. Others have written of the quality of the cheese board but we opted for a fromage blanc before a delicious dessert. Nothing complicated - just good ingredients well prepared!More

We have stayed at La Terrasse on a few separate occasions and have always dined in the restaurant which has always been a wonderful experience. After reading recent reviews we were slightly worried about returning in case it did not live up to our expectations....Thankfully, there was no need to worry! The food, wine and service was excellent! We had a wonderful evening and will certainly be returning on our next trip to the Auvergne!More

We stayed here, half board. Service very good, we were on a fixed menu and unable to alter which for the most part was just fine. My main course was a chicken breast, served unadorned. In hindsight, why didn't I request a sauce?? What kind...of French cuisine is that? The incredible cheese selection wiped out any disappointments I might have harboured.More

I visited on a Sunday in March, not a high day for restaurants (this is in a hotel so it is open 7 days) and indeed there were only 3 tables occupied during my meal, with only one person to wait on table while managing...the hotel front desk and responding to room-related demands of another diner who was a guest. He did a phenomenal job, given the limitations. There is a single "menu", not a la carte. The meal was superb. The chef specializes in local ingredients and local cuisine with a modern interpretation, and the preparation is excellent, all reasons to visit. Michelin-listing-quality (which is where I got the reference to visit it when I was passing through). As many of the French-language reviewers have noted, this is right on the Camino de Santiago/Chemin de St. Jacques.More
