This is within 'easy' walking distance form our house in Drapanias so is very hand for a lunchtime pita gyros. We also called in this time for a lovely evening meal. Another bonus is that that serve Charma (Χάρμα) Cretan beer.
Many places in Crete will provide a sweet treat and raki (on the house) after an evening meal. We were delighted that at lunchtime we also were given a sweet treat, either small coconut cake with biscuit base or mini strawberry cheesecake. On our last day at lunch time we also were given some raki.
We will be back (again and again!!!)

We visited Elafonisi beach for first time this year,and we stopped for having launch in that place and I can guarantee that, they have the most delicious and fresh food in this part of Crete island. We had tasty and fresh pita with gyros, and also we tried their homemade Mousaka. They had also a variety of fresh meats, salads and homemade food for all tastes. I am pretty sure that, I will come back again to enjoy their amazing cuisine and Elafonisi beach again.

We decided to stop for a quick dinner and it was a great decision. My son and husband had one of the best pork gyros they have had in Crete. My daughter ordered the pork chop and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the gemista (stuffed tomatoes/peppers) which were scrumptious and fresh. Our visit was capped off with a complimentary dessert (delicious!) and a small bottle of Cretan Raki which we thoroughly enjoyed(my husband the most..ha!). Our waiter was gracious, witty and attentive. After our meal, which was perfection, the chef came out and introduced himself and asked us personally if everything was to our liking. We thought this was a kind gesture. We of course let him know that everything exceeded our expectations!

We have been visiting the nearby village of Drapanias for over 15 years and often came to Kalypso in Kalodiana for a pita gyros at lunchtime.
In recent trips we ate her on a couple of evenings and decided on this latest trip to visit both lunchtime and evening.
The family is so friendly and the food is top quality. They also serve chilled local Cretan beer, Charma

In spite of the other reviews here, I have a very negative experience. Although the food is good, the service is terrible, and this must be one of the last places in Crete where cards are not accepted, really embarrassing when you don't carry cash, which i seldomly do now because these days you can pay with plastic everywhere . The waiter when I wanted to pay became very unfriendly, and hostile when I insisted to pay by card. I had to collect cash from my company to be able to pay. very embarassing.so last time I was here never again after this experience.So not recommended this place, brrrr.

We have visited a lot of tavernas’ through all Crete island. And I must say that they were not as good as Kalypso. If you want to eat Greek cuisine dishes you MUST visit this place. This is not so much touristic place, a lot of local people eat here. This is a place to experience a Greek dishes. Definitely 100% recommendation for food and friendly staff. Didn’t take a lot of pictures as the food was too delicious, didn’t have time to photograph.

We’ve stopped at this Tavern on a way from Elafonisi beach. The serve absolutely delicious meat. We ordered a Grill mix and everything there was just amazing, better, then anywhere else. Definitely recommended!

Delicious tastes, big portions, beautiful location and extremely kind personal. We just quickly stepped over, "maybe it will be eatable" we thought, and what kind of positive surprise! One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten! :-)

I have been travelling all over the world and in Greek island and this is the place where I had the better food so far.

Such a food .. so good and tasty made in their one taverna , all the familly are inhere, the mother is cooking, the daughters served us a good food ! Lamb chops, snitzel was so delicios !

We've been to Kalypso a few times during visits to Chania and the big friendly welcome is always the same.
The food is great, and lots of it! It's easy to find-just by "Captain Nick's Glass Bottom Boat" Do visit!
