Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food quality is perfect, the staff are also excellent. We had the small carvery, more than enough for each of us and two drinks. The price was less than I paid in Nailsea for two sandwiches, a coffee and a pot of tea. I am...not a “Sunday dinner person” but this did go down very well.More

Having arrived late afternoon we were going to go for a curry however the nearest one was only take away so opted for the next closest, the Star Inn as it was only a short walk we opted to walk and take in the somerset...countryside, on arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff, the place is very nice and decorated in a rustic manner very fitting for the area. the menu has something for every one, all the food is made to order and very fresh, my wife had a steak with the trimmings, I had the fish pie highly recommend it as I wiped the dish clean, so friendly are the staff that I asked for the fish pie recipe and without hesitation I was duly given the recipe. unfortunately we live to far away as we would eat here frequently, highly recommend thanks to all the staffMore

We come here every now and then because I love the country location and the layout. True depending on when you come depends on the atmosphere. We have seen bot( very busy and very quiet. Easy to book on line. The restaurant is on different...levels, some tiled , some carpeted. We sat at the top which would be a nice size for a family party. The entrance is spacious and uncluttered ideal for waiting to be seated. You always have a warm welcome , the manager is excellent and so are his team. Drinks are table service. We chose a couple of the tapas type dishes to start , chorizo and potatoes and crispy calamari with a garlic dip . Both were hot a tasty and served on a board ideal for sharing (you can order 3 dishes for £16). For mains we chose the pork schnitzel special served with fries and an apple type chutney. The chicken bourguignon was delicious, colourful and well presented , with perfect broccoli, delicious bacon, spinach carrots and a selection of mushrooms. Best dish I have had in ages, will try and replicate at home. No room for dessert. We had a really pleasant afternoon. There is also a separate bar area that seemed to be busy, I am guessing you can always eat in there too. The Star is closed Monday and Tuesdays. Well worth a visit , we shall be back soon.More

We went for Sunday lunch and looking at the reviews were expecting The Star to be a cosy pub with god food. Going through the entrance doors we were met by an area that was devoid of furniture and it looked like the removal men...had been in. A friendly young waitress took us to our table in what I would discribe as a grim dining room. The same wooden chairs were around the same wooden tables which were arranged in rows. Little sign of any attempt to make the room more attractive, Tiled floor so that every time anyone moved a chair you got the grating noise of wood being dragged over tile. It was very hard to feel relaxed and enjoy our meal. The olives anf flatbreads were good, roast beef was good, chicken ok and salmon a bit dried up on the top but ok. Roasters were not crisp and the brocolli was overcooked. Yorkshires and gravy were good. I wish I had stayed at home and cooked as going to The Star turned out to not be a treat.More

We called in on the off-chance, on our way home to Devon, after an appalling flight and luggage delay at Bristol Airport - and really could not have wished for a more welcoming and reassuring experience. It quite saved the day. The food was freshly...cooked, and delicious - but what really made the experience so memorable was Millie, the young lady who greeted us so calmly, and waited on us so perfectly. Thank you again, so much, Millie. We really can't wait to find a reason to go back.More

We have just enjoyed one of the best pub meals we have ever had at The Star Inn. The steak was cooked to perfection, the sides were delicious and the chocolate brownie pudding was just incredible. Lovely setting, very clean and tidy, nicely decorated. And...the staff were so friendly and attentive. If you want a really decent dinner, we would definitely recommend!More

The Star (the village is named after it) has been transformed from an ordinary roadside pub into a half-decent gastro pub with Sunday roast. We found that 'children's portions' are just enough for a snack, and the cauliflower cheese with the roast veggies was a...good side dish. All washed down with Thatcher's cider, made down the road in Sandford.More

Three of us went there for lunch. When deciding where to sit the fussy ones chose a table near the music-speakers. We asked three times for the music to be turned down, each time they member of staff said that would and each time nothing...happened - so we moved again, this time outside. The food was good (I had fish and chips, the others were slightly more adventurous)More

Yes. There is an area in the Star (slightly away from from the main restaurant but with direct access to the bar) which is specifically for dogs. This area has dog beds/blankets and dog water bowls.
