Dropped into Burley before going to our hotel and went into the Queens head for a drink. Good service, lovely setting so we went back a couple of days later for a meal. Food was tasty and hot. The cod and chips was massive. Again good service and friendly staff.

So it's a Greene King pub but it has a great saver menu and a reasonable selection of beer - it's a good place to break your ride walk. We had steak and a fish pie and it was both were nicely done and portion size was appropriate for lunch - perhaps a little generous - we certainly didn't feel... More

We enjoyed chips and lasagne at this restaurant while having an afternoon stroll around the village. The food was hot and very tasty and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit if your in the area and enjoy pub food.

this was not the best meal i have ever had, Sunday lunch was quite a lot of choice of meat, 3 of our party ordered beef only to be told that they had run out, i would say that the majority of people that go out for Sunday lunch would have beef so very disappointing when they had run out,... More

Ate Ham Egg and Chips, a pub staple. Cost £5.49. Wasn't worth it. Ham was grey, chips were frozen and deep fried, peas were frozen and the one fried egg had been cooked on a dirty hotplate, had turned the egg white yellow and tasted overwhelmingly of burger. I would gladly have paid more for freshly cut and cooked chips... More

I try to give a positive view but I was very disappointed with the steak. Meals were transposed with wrong level of cooking dished on each plate. Even when we swapped the medium was much more like a rare. Onion rings were soggy. Meal came quicker then the advised time which was good. It is a nice pub in a... More

We went as a group of 8 and they were very accommodating. It was really nice to sit in an independent pub with so much history. The staff were amazing and their recommendation of the lamb shank was spot on! As was the salmon. No room for dessert but we hope to return while we are here in the new... More

Went here last week after walking all over the New Forest with the wife and dog. Very friendly pub with efficient staff providing a great service. The food was great we had fish and chips along with macaroni cheese, price Ok as well for the area. Also a very good pint of Speckled Hen which always helps the food go... More

Description
The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.
