Ok, 3 of us, late April, last minute decision for reservation. Staff undeniably friendly and efficient on a night with a big special event. My companions seemed "ok" with their choices of chicken curry (mild) and fish pie, but I thought the fish pie deplorable. It was just mush. Side vegetables were fresh but not well cooked. The appetizer of... More

Dear Picky Missy. Many thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts with us, it may have been easier for us to address these issues if you would have told one of the 3 waitresses who checked with you multiple times on the night. It would have been nice if you could have plucked up the courage to raise... More

The jewel in the crown of this pub/restaurant with rooms is the great staff team who made us so welcome and looked after us so well from the time of booking and throughout our stay. We stayed two nights (Friday and Saturday) and ate in the restaurant both nights. Food was very good, beautifully presented and local sourced ingredients. Service... More

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Rutland Water. The room we had was excellent - in some accommodation in the pub courtyard. Wing is a very quiet village but ideal for Rutland Water. The restaurant is quite small but high in atmosphere. Food was very good - we had the home smoked fish and meats followed by red... More

It had been far too long since our last visit as evidenced by our somewhat circuitous route to Wing. Once safely arrived, everything fell into place. Friendly service, cracking local ham for me and some splendid haddock for Mrs R all complemented by an interesting selection of wines and beers. With some delicious pudding and coffee to follow, we were... More

Every few months my wife and I meet up with her brother and his wife around the Rutland area as we live in Buckinghamshire and they live in Lincolnshire. The restaurant we were going to was unavailable due to a function and we were recommended The Kings Arms. We were given a warm welcome and no pressure to hurry our... More

Despite only living 4 miles away for the past 30 years we had never visited the Kings Arms, a mistake ! as the food and service was very good, and all the food is locally sourced, the Beef and Pork was delicious and the portions very generous. The sticky Toffee pudding & the cream brûlée likewise. Wing itself lost the... More

So glad you made the trip over to us, even if it did take 30 years. Our Sunday lunch is the bedrock of everything we hold dear about, food, hospitality and the great British Pub. Quality produce, cooked well with tradition as our guide. It is true that The Cuckoo closed albeit 13 years ago and a few others besides,... More

This was a special birthday meal for an elderly relation. We were greeted in a polite, attentive and friendly way throughout, and enjoyed a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Good food and beer, and locally-sourced produce.

I have been a few times for pub lunches during the week and always enjoyed the experience. The choice of beers is good and there is plenty of variety in moderately prices sandwiches and ciabatta type offerings. The bar staff are friendly and the pub atmosphere as an original type of pub is very accommodating and warm.
