Very good restaurant bit on side of city center . Very good menu , option of fish , meat , vegetarian also . Service is professional . Great local wines . Tasty food . I highly recommended during your stay in Levice

I was looking forward to visit this place during my trip to Levice, based on the reviews I read.
True, it has a nicer than average decor and fitout at a first glance, but that is where the superlatives should stop.
The outfitting might be nice, but they are of the cheapest quality. They also forgot the basics re the ratio between chair and table height for comfortable sitting (I am of an average height). So don't be surprised if you sit down and sink into the cheap (but attractive) cushioned chairs (also of average weight) and you end up VERY close to the table with your chin. So, it might look good, but that is not enough.
They will tell you where you can and can not sit when you arrive.
There is no food or drink menu on the table, you have to ask for it.
When you ask for this list, you will not find wine listed at all, yet if you ask, they do sell wine.
And now the important stuff: the food is BLAND. I ordered a chicken steak with mustard and honey sauce. The chicken was dry and the sauce had no flavour. AT ALL! Even after adding salt and pepper. How can anyone be enthusiastic about food like this is beyond me.
The staff (I mean the head waiter) were loud and obnoxious. I think he enjoys the power dynamics of ruling over his young staffers. And that is the other thing: why do I have to be exposed to and listen to the loud banter, which seemed to intimidate if not bully to employees. I do not want to know about this stuff when I go into a restaurant for lunch... and it completely ruins the ambience of the place (or whatever was left for a positive experience).
Surely there are better places in Levice than this!

Have to admit, one of the sweet bright spots in the Levice. I really loved being in the Gourmet restaurant. Finally something with taste, nice and friendly staff, good service and the smile on the face. Great chicken soup, even better 500g pork ribbs, and delicious chessnut cream. Perfect dinner. With a beer and Kofola on the top. I was full for 16 EUR. Only to recommend. Ambient is a bit confused, mix of old/ancient/modern but welcoming, warm and pleasant place to be. What can I say, go and try it for yourself and prove me wrong.

I was a little anxious about eating here as I had seen some reviewers saying the service was poor. I ordered a steak which came well prepared - you have to order sides too - I had chips (good) and a salad (very good). The flavour combinations were excellent really - I couldn't fault it for the price I paid (£24 Euros with two G&Ts included). The waiter was a little odd, but nothing that could be descried as poor service - just a little inattentive. To be honest, this is Slovakia so I'm not expecting to be treated as I would in France or Italy. It seems to me this probably is the best food you can get in Levice, so I suggest preparing yourself for whatever service you get and give it a go. You are unlikely to complain about the food and price!

We had Xmas party in this restaurant with three our teams and th party was about 40 people, the service was excellent, we got winter garden for us , and the guys were fantastic, attending all our needs and stayed longer to accommodate very merry party, thank you very much guys for lovely atmosphere you helped us to achieve. dinner was ok, nothing super special but nice.

We went for a lunch at 1:30pm and despite of the fact they had just a single meal left on the daily menu they refused to take a-la-carte order because they do a-la-carte only starting 2pm.

This was biggest mistake trying this restaurant with my family. We came here on one Friday around 13:00. First of all waitress takes us out from restaurant to so called terrace because we can't sit inside... :(. When we finally find spot which was reserved from 17:00 we have to change it after another waitress came on us with higher voice because they need to prepare it 4 hours before reservation.... I was starting to get angry. Last but not least we were led to another table which was not prepared and other waitress told us that we can choose from three fast menus for 3.7 eur which we didn't like at all. When we ask for food card another surprise comes:we can't order anything else until they have fast menu's. First order from normal menu should be available in half hour so we can wait if we want.... I was close to heart stroke... THIS IS NUMBER ONE restaurant in Levice... We got out from there before I have to start screaming on them... Never again anyone else from my family or friends go to this restaurant... Be ready for very rude and impertinent staff.

I liked the interior a lot. Food was good and service friendly. Not excellent food but very good for the price and definitely one of the best restaurant I tried in Slovakia. Service was nice but slightly too fast for me who is French and like a break between dishes. Serving was too fast, very unusual to complain about too fast service. Ok bruschetta with mushrooms (bread could have been better). Good garlic soup. Great veal, potatoes very normal ...

Slapped down the 2 main courses on the table and ran off before I could order a drink never came near the table for the rest of our meal to offer desert menus or to ask if we needed anything more.Food was ok beer was not the best service was very poor and rude.

Friendly atmosphere, warm interiour, excellent food. The chicken broth with the home-made liver dumplings is a must. The desserts might be skipped.

When in the (ghost) town of Levice, there is little choice for a nice dinner. However, Gourmet manages to please many.
Gourmet had some issues a few years ago with the quality of service, causing us to avoid it for a few years. This has been luckily addressed, and we can't fault the service anymore.
The menu also had a recent overhaul, going from over 100 dishes (causing me to choose everytime 20 minutes on what to eat) so just about 30-50. It does mean I run out of things to choose, but nothing wrong with just choosing what I liked last time I guess.
The owner is also continuously investing in the interior over time, something you don't see often in Slovakia. Usually, it's a one-shot investment which then hast to last until the next owner takes over. Not so in this case. I would say the interior is rather tasteful.
On typically busy nights (friday and saturday evenings), a reservation is required. A pity that they use the restaurant also for events, so that when someone has a birthday/baptism celebration there, seating becomes very limited.
