Just passing by and required a lunch break, found it on TripAdvisor and reviews looked good so gave it a go, very nice surroundings in the restaurant the bar is small but well presented, a warm welcome and we were given a choice of bar or restaurant to eat, we chose restaurant, and went just for a main course "blade... An interesting layout to the pub, walk through the bar to get to the dining area. Lots of little eating areas dotted around provide for a lovely dining atmosphere. We had the fish from the muenu as we needed a quick meal. Cooked perfectly with nice presentation. If only my local was anywhere near this standard.

Popped into the Jackson stops country pub for a spot of lunch, on rout from Newcastle upon tyne to Braintree. The pub restaurant is literally just off the A1 and as previous reviews have stated a bit of a find. The look of the building, the interior, the food and the staff are all excellent. I couldn't find fault with... More

This wasn't my first trip and certainly won't be our last, birthday Sunday lunch for Grandma - fabulous 3 course lunch menu with choices for everyone, beautifully presented and tasted even better. There is no one who cooks a sirloin better than Rob Knowles! Friendly, professional staff who catered for our every need. Highly recommended.

After a day walking around Barnsdale Gardens we were in need of food and drink and this pub was an excellent choice. Very good quality at a lower price than some others we could mention... Nice service, pleasant surroundings - we'll be back.

Excellent food in lovely surrounding together with friendly, but relaxed service. Chef/ proprietor drove us home when we couldn't get a cab.. We tried to pay him, but he would not accept any money. What more could you ask for? P.S. Local bitter was also excellent. Highly recommended. We will return. Thank you for a great evening.

We were staying at the Stretton Lakes..We decided to eat out for a Sunday lunch. Thank you for making us so welcome and accommodating our last minute booking on Saturday. We loved your quirky place, so nice to see a real fire and memorabilia on the walls that brought back memories and made us laugh.. Service was excellent and the... More

We were a party of 17 people celebrating our Mother's 80th birthday with Sunday lunch. Right from the time of booking, Richard was extremely attentive, organising a private room for us, and all the staff made us most welcome on the day. We've consistently enjoyed good food here, and this occasion was certainly no different, despite there being so many... More

We called in to the Jackson Stops for lunch after reviewing a selection of websites of dog friendly pubs in the area. The dog meant we had to eat in the bar area which was just fine by us. The bar was rather small and had a nice fire in the grate but I felt that the owners could have... More

Thanks for taking the considerable time to review our restaurant, and your very positive indeed' faultless' view of our food & service. I will however point out the following; All the offers indicated online are correct, as was the October offer- as this was nearly the end of the month we naturally lean towards promoting the next month- albeit exactly... A lucky stop en route down the A1, with fabulous food, very warm welcome, and able to sit with an open fire, with our dogs as well. Would recommend this place very highly for quality, value and hospitality.
