Nice restaurant, good food, expensive, but you pay for the ambiance. Now they are only open certain holidays.

This place was a disappointment, except for the meal itself. We wanted to treat our visiting daughter to an early Christmas dinner at a fine restaurant, and thought the Grand Oak would be a good choice. First, the three of us were seated at a...small two-top in what was originally the bar area. There was barely enough room for the place settings on the table. A very nice large dining room was closed, for we assume was a business decision - maybe too difficult to cook for too many people, or not enough staff, or ???? In any event, the noisy crowded bistro-atmosphere was not what we expected. Conversation with our daughter was difficult, and then to make matters worse a guitar musician came in and set up in a little open corner not five feet from our table. No hope of hearing each other after that. We did enjoy the food - ribeye steak cooked perfectly, lamb chops, and pasta carbonara. The one sour note came when the server told us they were all out of bottles of cabernet, our favorite dinner wine. The oddball blend he suggested turned out to be pretty bad, and the complimentary substitute wasn't much better. All in all, we felt somewhat deceived and should have been told that the dining room was shut down when we made our reservation. We won't be back, although some folks might like the noise level and bar atmosphere.More

I called to make reservations to celebrate our anniversary. I was Very Specific that we wanted to fine in their dining room, NOT THE BAR. The hostess I spoke with assured me that the Grand Oaks Dining Room Was Open - and - this is...where our dinner would be served. I gave a hearing problem - and - the bar is well just a bar, and on the noisy side. We were seated in the bar - and - while the server was pleasant, were seated in the bar ! ! ! This was our anniversary. Our meal was wonderful - but - it was in the bar - very disappointed! ! !More

This place has made horrible decisions. They have a large property and yet they decide to close a beautiful dining room and keep a mediocre bar area open. They have decent food but they are open only minimal hours a few days/nights per week and...therefore fill up quickly with the minimal amount of tables available. So there are terrible waits. I called two weeks in a row for reservations. They did not answer the phone during any of the numerous times I called so I left a message. They never bothered to call back. We showed up at 7 and they said they did not check messages and they did not have any tables left for the entire evening. And we couldn't sit at crowded bar because we had someone under 21 in our party. They couldn't even open a table in the large empty dining room. Instead they turn people away or make them wait. This bar they keep open is small and uncomfortable. They used to have music that was loud and crowded and would also be better in dining area. Poor management. This place would not survive in any big city because customer service is important, and I question it's practice in this smaller town. Don't drive the long distance there.More

Went here to celebrate our good friends retirement. Want a special place for a fine dining experience,and we found it! this restaurant is on an historic place that once was an old west stage stop.It is part of the Oak Valley Ranch. Our dinner was...the special prime rib,cooked to perfection, the sides were mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wife had the catch of the day ,which was wild salmon. The bar had a small but nice selection of beers on tap,others in bottles,and our friend raved about the lavender infused ice tea! If you want a casual,but also a fine dinning experience,try this place.More

Very nice the grounds are amazing many special events are held there such as the Lavender Festival the Wine and Olive Festival the Beer and Sausage Festival

Legendary Steak House at Highland Springs Resort. Well concocted drinks in a war atmosphere. Very good food and the breakfast buffet is wonderful.. The warm pastries are fabulous.
