Dining in a museum tastes better than it sounds! The menu was varied, interesting and very tasty. Excellent place to enjoy a special occasion with French cuisine.

Wherever I go I usually seek out the most authentic local experience.... which of course includes the cuisine. I'm a stickler for atmosphere, charm, and quality of product. This unassuming dignified resto meets my criteria effortlessly. First, the exterior... as most of Old Quebec city... is impeccably conserved and charming right off the bat... the interior is pretty much the... More

We went there for an early bird supper (cannot call it a dinner) to get the $19.95 three course meal. Turned out you cannot eat much or try out their real food with that budget. You have to pay 2 or 3 times more. Service was good, food is okay. It was a special meal to be sitting inside such... More

We were early enough to the restaurant to get the $19.95 three course dinner--to which we added some extras. It got quite crowded rapidly and the one waitress in our area was extremely busy, yet remained pleasant and efficient. We tried poutine here for the first time and were pleasantly surprised--it is actually quite good! I had salmon, which was... More

Setting and location are terrific. Wonderful food. Prix fix menu is good value. Food could have been a little hotter but not an issue worth complaining about. Our server was fabulous and really made our evening fun.

I have always wanted to have a meal at Aux Anciens Canadiens, and I finally got my chance! It's so cool to be inside such an old building, even though the low ceilings are somewhat challenging for tall people. The food is traditional and tasty. We took advantage of the "early bird" 19.95 three-course special, and it was a great... More

Wife and I had diner. We were overdressed. Don't need a jacket. Great little restaurant for a taste of old Canada. The wife had beef wellington that was very good. I had the three beefs (red deer, bison, and elk). It came with little potato cake that was very tasty. The meal was very nice and the meat tender. I... More

I've been there for the dinner with some colleagues. The restaurant is in the oldest house of the city. The interior are amazing and well furnished. The menu offers a good choice of appetizers, soups, fish and meat dishes. The poutine that we ate is not excellent compared with the ones you can find in other restaurant but the final... More

Aux Anciens Canadiens is an important part of Old Quebec and, while my husband and I were there, offered a great value when we choose to dine there in the evening.

Had the $19.95 table d'hote lunch last Thursday in this charming old restaurant in old Quebec City. The pea soup was not what I would expect but it was hearty and interesting. The wapiti sausage and baked beans was a great entrée, and the Lac St. Jean tourtiere with game meats, fruit ketchup and braised beets was an excellent dish.
