We selected this restaurant for our first dinner in Old Quebec. Romantic ambiance with dim lighting and live music; really enjoyed the saxophone and keyboard ensemble! We opted for a prix fixe dinner and enjoyed the Quebecois cuisine sampling. We were stuffed to the brim!...More

My wife and I had lunch at this beautiful restaurant while walking around the old town. We sat on the patio which was very comfortable. Restaurant 1640 is just across the street from chateau Frontenac! The food was scrumptious, every last bite. Good sized portions....More

We decided to leave chateau Frontenac for breakfast out, and really enjoyed this place. Fair price and good food quality.

Had Xmas Eve dinner here upon arrival in Old Quebec and enjoyed it immensely. They had a prix fixe menu with great options for us. The drinks, wine and service were wonderful as well. Traditional live Xmas music completed a very nice evening.

This restaurant is very well located, has a nice menu and good atmosphere. The service was very good although the first waiter who attended us left before us -he did a very good job- and the second waiter seemed not to be very interested in...More

We had our dinner here during our stay in Quebec, the renowned French-style restaurant in the downtown area, costing $48 per person(a little bit expensive><). Just about 100 meters from the Fairmont, this resturant was pretty good. We did not have a reservation, but the 3 of us were seated right away. Live music with a pianist with current compositions made for an enjoyable evening. The service was average and...More

If you want to try traditional Quebec food, this is the place. The waitress was quite helpful in explaining the menu and giving recommendations. So many options to choose from. I would recommend the Caribou.

Yes. We got a table for two without a reservation, even though the restaurant was busy. Just remember, there's no guarantee a table will be available especially if you go in a big group.

To the best of my recollection, the 4 of us had dinners that did not contain dairy. The staff was very accommodating, so I'm sure it won't be an issue.
