The food is wonderful, but there's also something especially welcoming and homey about this restaurant that means we go there every time we visit Montreal. It's very small, so reservations are a must. Delicious and friendly!

We actually went here once for lunch and once for dinner in the four days we were in town. Helpful to make reservations for dinner. Food is delicious, wide variety on the menu. It was hard to choose what to get! Highly recommend.

The Nan bread is some of the best I've tried in Montreal. The food is very good, except that I have had better Indian in Montreal. It is nice to see the owner there overlooking the service and making sure patrons are happy. The prices were reasonable for dinner. The lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu, which... More

The food was adequate, but the restaurant is cramped and dusty with very uncomfortable seating. The service people tried hard, but were by and large unsuccessful. For example, I requested cutlery twice....and they brought me a bowl. The nail in the coffin was when, as soon as the bill was paid, they informed us that we had to free up... More

I went to Resto Darbar on a recent trip to Montreal. I ordered the Buttered Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Panner. I also had naan and basmati rice with my meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return the next time I go back to Montreal.

We had dinner here, in part because many restaurants are closed on Monday night. We were glad we did because the food was excellent and not greasy. We appreciated our waitress's suggestions and the fact that she didn't recommend a dish because it was not fresh.

The food is ok. Not the most tasty, but not the worst Indian I have ever had. The service however is terrible. I was there last night for a total of 70 minutes. The moment I put my fork down, the bill arrived and they seemed frustrated that I wanted to order desert. They brought my desert accompanied with the... More

I love Indian food and have eaten it in many cities. DARBAR is one of the best. This is a family-owned businesd, and I came here when the parents ran the place and now it's the kids, who made lovely changes to the decor and the menu. It's a very small restaurant, reservations are required, and lingering after a meal... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
