Overall, the experience was unique and unexpected. Not only did the staff exceed my expectations in terms of quality of service, but the food was exquisite as well. Tasting the food in the dark only made the dinner even better with the heightened senses. When we arrived, we were greeted nicely at the reception. It seems that the reception is... More

A wonderful place. Completely in the dark, so you can't see anything. The server is actually blind, so you rely totally on his ability to get you where you need to go. The food is amazing, and even more unique due to the fact you are totally relying on your sense of taste and smell to experience the food because... More

When we entered they took two tables ordered who arrived after our party. No apology for them either. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad. I could have made a better salad at home. There were two pieces of goat cheese in the entire salad ( I know because I cleaned the plate because I was quite hungry after... More

I went with a friend for the new year eve dinner, the fixed menu was amazing, salad with pate, risotto with sea food and the steak, every was so good. As a new experience eating in the dark was fantastic, something that I recommend to everybody But the best of this restaurant is the service, Morris our waiter was so... More

Be forewarned, you will be blind from the time you enter to the time you leave. This experience is not for everyone. It is astonishing to experience complete sensory deprivation in this fashion. The brain is such an amazingly adaptable organ. Within minutes you can notice that you hear things differently, feel things, muscle memory becomes so essential and surprisingly... More

We had the New Years menu at O.Noir Montreal (5 course set menu). The food was amazing, service was really good and the waiter made the whole experience so fun and relaxing! I would recommend for anyone to try it. We loved it and had such a fun night!

First, when you enter, you have to leave your phone and all your belongings in lockers (which are provided) before being guided into a pith black dinning room. The first minutes are really unpleasant as you feel defenseless and lost. Then, you start to feel around your table, relax and rely on your other senses. You will be entirely dependent... More

To eat in total darkness is an amazing experience.staffed by many people who have visual impairment was inspiring to me as my daughter who accompanied me is legally blind.. To "see " from her perspective was worth the trip. The food and staff are excellent would dine again,

Open my eyes, Close my eyes, See nothing. This is O'Noir experience. My senses and perceptions are amplified by the loss of vision. Smell the bread enter the room through the perfume of the persone wearing it. I never perceived this reality that was just in front of me. I love this smell, i want to just bury my nose... More

While at lunch in old Montreal, my daughter and I started talking to a nice Toronto couple next table and they mentioned they had this totally odd experience at O Noir. It felt so different and intriguing that we had to check it out, and we are so thankful they pointed this place out to us. The staff is extremely... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
