Went with some friends who recommended this place, and they built it up pretty good. It still blew our minds! Ask for the chef's menu and you will NOT be disappointed.

Hello, If you plan to visit Montreal, you must stop at Tri Express Sushi. It is by far the best sushi place I have been to! I went to many places in Vancouver, in Sausalito, San Francisco, LA, Toronto, many places in Montreal. Quality/Price and creativity, Tri is the Best! Just step in and ask for the Chef's special (either... More

We went there on a Saturday night hoping to enjoy a great sushi meal...The sea food soup was a miso soup with ONE shrimp in it... very disappointing, the service is mediocre and the sushis were OK, for the price you can get better sushi... As well, one dish hadn't been served to us but still we were charged for... More

Tri is a well known and excellent chef. His food is delicious and worth trying. The restaurant itself is very interesting in its creativity. It's got all sort of cool objects displayed in an artistic way. They don't sell alcohol and you can't bring your own. The restaurant is small so it feels a bit crammed. The service was pathetic.... In this city, even though you'd think you can easily find a sushi restaurant, having a great one is closer to a struggle. With Tri express, you're sure to find great sushi/sashimi there, great recipes, great ingredients. The only bad point is that prices are a bit too expensive, I had just 4 dishes and It cost a bit more than... More

If you love sushi and you're okay with a little creativity and 'free-form' makis, then you should definitely try this great plateau spot! Unfortunately they don't have a liquor license so no alcohol. Don't forget it's cash only!

They might want to make more benefices, what is a shame for a place who was known as the best one in town.... So sad. Not bad but not good any more. Not enough fish in "special à la tri", lack of lot of ingredients and things are dryer.... SO SO SAD for a great place like this...

It had been a while since I had been at Tri so I decided I was due. Went yesterday and I was so disappointed. Sure the service wasn't great but the worse was the lack of quality and refinement in the sushi that I was so used to expecting at Tri. I have had much better from many sushi delivery... More

Although the presentation was decent, the amount of fish in each dish was really disappointing. Even worse, it looks like they're trying to hide this through more starch in the tartare, and rice in the sushis. The waitress was also very rude and impatient. Will not go there again.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
