A nice resto in the gay village that serves honest french food. My bavette was done to my liking and very tender. We were there for lunch and enjoyed the friendly service. You can bring your own wine.

O' Thym has all the futures of a top quality restaurant, as it is elegant, simple, with a diverse menu and excellent food. Yet, it is not pretentious and it's prices are trully acceptable. On top of it, you are allowed to bring your own wine! It's usually very busy, so it's highly recommended to make reservations with days in... More

I hadn't been to O'Thym for a few years and really should have returned sooner. The food here is always wonderfully prepared. Our small group ordered the tataki appetizer, salads, the rack of lamb, magret de canard and the bavette de boeuf. The tataki was marvelous, just as our server described it. All of the main dishes along with accompanying... More

Don't forget to pick up a good bottle of wine before going to this restaurant. No corkage fee! Also the dishes were very tasty and affordable. Presentation of the food was also gorgeous.

We happened to walk by O'Thym on a Sunday morning after giving up on a nearby brunch place that was way too full. The place was practically empty - not a good sign - but we were hungry and decided to go for it. In the end it was a great experience! The dishes were original, tasty and very nicely... More

Amazing restaurant. Small, so reservations are a must - even on a weeknight. BYOB. From the foie gras appetizer, to the lemon sorbet palate cleanser, to the duck entree, and finishing off with the creme brulee - it was all amazing. Highly recommend.

We had visitors from France and we were looking for a fine dining experience. One of features of O Thym was the BYOB. This is important as it helps the bottom line. Our server was friendly and perfectly bilingual and was able to describe the menu and the choices. The fact that it was her 4th day on the job... More

Very simply laid out restaurant with good medium lighting, so it is good enough to see the food, but not glaring harsh light to dine with friends and love ones. The menu is also simple, with daily tartare selection. BYOB makes this even more affordable for a good meal out. I ordered the foie gras and it was well cooked... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
