I ordered the Chicken with 3 kinds of mushrooms and Asparagus. I ordered this meal because I love mushrooms and asparagus. When I received the meal, I noticed there was only a few asparagus roots, no green asparagus tips in this meal. When I asked the waiter about that, he said there was no asparagus tips. I asked him if... More

Mr. Ma is located downtown, in Place Ville-Marie. The restaurant is usually busy at lunch, but at dinner everything calms down. You can walk all the way into the heart of the restaurant and wait for an open table. We started our meal with some spring rolls and wonton soup, both which were good. Then, we ordered some sesame crispy... More

Mr. Ma could be accessed through the underground city of Montreal, which is nice during snow season. The food is good, including cuisine of Sichuan style - hot and spicy, Shanghai style - sweet, and Canton Style. The service is fine, but kind of slow during peak lunch hours. There is free indoor parking after 17:30, and that is also... More

We went to Mr Ma and pre-ordered a Peking Duck. The duck was good but a bit small, we ordered various starters; Shrimp toast, Prawn Dim Sum, veggie spring rolls and shrimp spring rolls; Main course: Prawn with Xo sauce, Prawn with special spicy sauce (highly recommended), General Tao chicken (highly recommended), fried rice (portion is for one so if... I used to come to this place frequently when I lived in Montreal. The quality of the food of service is always excellent. Mr.Ma supervises the kitchen and the dining room by himself and you can notice his attention to the details in everything in the restaurant. It is usually my first stop when I visit Montreal.

We went here for business lunch, I was a little sticker shocked at the prices for the set lunch around $25 pre-tip. Decided that this was not what I wanted and went for the a-la carte - the eggplant, and it is really an a-la carte menu as if you want something to put it on eg rice, it was... More

I fondly remembered Mr. Ma when I was taken there for lunch several years ago. To celebrate the coming holidays, a friend and I decided to lunch there. The soup 3as tasteless, the meat in the similarly tasteless BBQ pot was tough. I must say my friend's lemon chicken looked more appetizing but very uninspired. I can commend the polite... More

My wife and I chose to go to this restaurant because it was highly recommended by a friend. Being first timers at this restaurant, my wife and I both ordered the tasting platter which was priced at $60.00 each. Although we felt the price was high when we ordered, those thoughts quickly dissipated when the when the food started coming.... More

This was probably the worse Chinese meal I've ever had and as a result the worst restaurant I've been to in Montreal. Forget the ridiculous prices, it didn't phase me that entrees were more expensive than Chinese restaurants in New York. It was the food that was grossly disappointing. I'm almost certain every sauce on the menu comes out of... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
