The hotel where we stayed recommended this bistro style restaurant. The menu was very ‘french’ and everything we ate was simply delicious and also very different. We tried the chicken, pasta and beef - all were excellent. Not to be missed is the escargots - very different and very, very tasty. Service was good but they could have used another... More

To be honest, my wife and I went here because of decent TA reviews and we had a very hard time finding other choices open on a Monday night. It is in a strip of restaurants that appear to cater mostly to tourists. There is street and sidewalk construction going on as I write this that make it a little... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review,we are glad you and your wife got to try our bistro and we appreciate your feedback. The construction you encountered is very unfortunate, but it is also temporary and scheduled to be finished by June 01. It is part of Montreal 375th anniversary makeover celebration and promises to make the... More

Discovered this place quite a few years ago, and have been coming back every time I visit Montreal. They serve typical French bistro dishes, and they are very delicious, well presented, decently priced, and the atmosphere is always relaxing and welcoming. I come here mainly for their excellent onion soup and beef tartare, but their salmon tartare, lamb shank, duck... More

After a long drive from Maine to Montreal this was a perfect first night within walking distance from our hotel. The food was great, atmosphere really nice and relaxing. The wine was really nice and the service was great as well. While the menu is limited, they had lots of good things and I would go again for sure. The... More

I love this little place, so French. The staff were friendly but service was slow. They needed another server and we got there before the rush. Make reservations if you go after 6:30 or 7, even on a weeknight. The onion soup was a little paler than I expected, not the dark beefy broth I expected, but the seafood tagliatelle... More

This is an authentic French bistro in a lovely area in Montreal. We enjoyed the confit de canard which was of very high quality and completely prepared at the restaurant. The wine list was interesting, the service casual and lovely, and the experience wonderful. In addition to all of this, it was a very good value...high quality and very reasonable... More

We were wanting to have dinner at a French restaurant, and one of the staff at our hotel recommended Les Deux Gamins. After walking for a while, we found it, but then had to maneuver around barricades and other construction in order to enter a very empty room that clearly had a garage door as the front wall. The host... More

We walked up to this bistro on a dark street that was completely torn apart, at first place we had second thoughts, don't let this dissuade you. Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
