A warm friendly restaurant that makes a perfect stranger feel like a long lost friend. The food was wonderful--must try the Pastille appetizer. The cous cous was bountiful--try the lamb, it was delicious. You must order tea. It is wonderful and the service outstanding. I will never go back to a tea bag and a microwaves cup of water. Thanks... More

Spectacular couscous, savory but not overwhelming vegetables, very tender lamb and chicken; excellent merquez sausage. Friendly and knowledgeable staff guided our selections. The finish was a dramatically presented mint tea.

I am not sure what the other reviewers are referring to but I am from North Africa and raised on this type of food. Let me just say this, the food here is as authentic as you will find or taste anywhere, even in your North African Mom's kitchen. My couscous was simply delicious and reminded me of home. Every... Great small family run place. What can I say but good food. We had rabbit and the tangine, both very good. BYOB. Will return when back in Montreal. Good desert.

The dishes are of a good size but way too expensive. They dont let you share dishes and if you try they charge extra after scolding you for 5 minutes. Would never go back.

Highly over-rated spot on a street surrounded by much better alternatives. Although the food is decent, the menu is very limited in variety and overpriced by a factor of two! And after paying double, you get to experience the worst service and least friendly servers. Hospitality appears to be a foreign word. On a positive note, it is a 'bring... More

Wide variety of couscous, nice and very reasonable menu, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. Do not forget to bring your wine as it is a BYOB place.

So hearing from friends that this place had decent couscous we decided to give it a try . We had a friend visiting from South America and decided to try it together. It is extremely difficult for me to say what went right that evening. As soon as we entered in, we were given menus...great!!! We were waiting on our... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
