First, the owner of the place appeared to me as very sexist. He was trying to be kind and nice and gave us the restaurant card but the whole time he only talked to my boyfriend (sir this and sir that) he never looked at me, simply assuming that he was the one paying, which for me was a great... A bistro by definition should be simple, and that is exactly what this is Family owned and operated, the wife served tables while the husband tended cash and the bar What could be nicer than sitting outside on a late summer day with a good friend in an authentic neighbourhood, having a glass of rose, while eating fish and chips!

Perfect bistro. Good atmosphere, very good food and portions, casual service. In the heard of Mile End, near Outremont. A sweet part of Montreal.

Visited the bistro on a Thursday for dinner before a show at the Outremont Theatre. Very relaxed, casual decor. Chairs could be a bit hard to sit on as they are in wood. The service was friendly and efficient; the owner: attentive to his customers. The chicken sandwich was well garnished served with matchstick fries. On the table d'hote, the... More

But, even they will probably enjoy visiting this lovely cosy bistrot so well situated downtown Montreal because of its excellent coffee and atmosphere. We liked it. Went there as a metting finished too warly. Had some drinks and, being 4, we decided to eat. Food was simple but well cooked and tasty.

Really laid back spot with nice terrace. Had a great Sunday brunch here. My friend and myself ordered the biscuit crepes as well as an omelette with goat cheese, coriander, garlic, along with a whole world of deliciousness. They even had soy milk. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Best brunch in Montreal so far.

Very stylish and upscale decor, really matches the neighborhood. Students with laptops come and sit for hours, a coffee shop for chit chatters. The menu is simple bistro fare, burgers and sandwiches and an all day breakfast. Nothing revolutionary, but very good nonetheless. The best part is the terrace, can't wait for the summer.

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
