Not a cheap lunch but a very good lunch. Had the pork - roasted spot on! The vegetables and sides were great. Just the right amount of food so I wasn't stuffed but was not hungry either. Good beer selection - had a upscale pub atmosphere but only fancier pub fare (they do have bangers and mash but no fish... More

Had dinner here with a friend while on business The restaurant was busy and full of life. The scotch egg was to die for We both had the daily special which was a prime rib with all the fixings and includes a soup. Definitely will return on my next business trip

What a great find. Hardly noticed it from the outside, but once we got in, it was packed with people unwinding from a long day. A fantastic atmosphere and great food. Loved it. Definitely going back!!!

The leek soup was good but the fish is excellent. Batter is light and crispy. Fries are crisp and not oily. Plus I enjoy an eatery with a proper restroom.

The look of the place is quite unique and brings you into a different atmosphere. We didn't eat there so I cannot comment on food. Good and large selection of drinks. Staff was very pleasant and help us discover new drinks.

The hotel concierge had recommended this place and we really enjoyed it. We came for dinner and were pleasantly surprised overall. The drinks menu is fabulous (lots of groovy cocktails and beer/wine/spirits). The food was very tasty. The five of us shared a bunch of appetizers including the deviled eggs and charcuterie. For my entree i ordered the mussels. I've... More

Went for dinner with a friend, with high expectations given the reviews. The interior space is casual, and felt a little cramped to me; there was a good crowd given it was Saturday evening so perhaps a fine line between 'cramped' and 'cozy' depending on your perspective. I ordered the Fish Croquettes to start, and had the salmon as a... More

My husband and I visit Montreal a few times a year and try to visit new restaurants when we do, with a few exceptions. Taverne Square Dominion is always on our list. The food is consistently excellent, the cocktails are always delicious, and the service is attentive but not intrusive, every time. The atmosphere is not overly formal, but still... More

We went on a Saturday night between Christmas and New Year without a reservation. We initially wanted to sit at bar, but Noemi, hostess, informed us there were no seats, and seated us immediately at table for two. Anne, our waitress, provided prompt, professional, and extremely personable service on an extremely busy evening. We had a great tomato, romaine, and cottage cheese... More

Love it! There was high energy in this British pub style place the moment we walked in the door. Lots of chatter, eclectic background music, clinking of glasses, laughing of patrons. It was bustling in here. Comfortable and welcoming. Lots of smiling faces on the staff and the customers. Great spot for a group of friends to hang out for... More

Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
