This is a nice place to have breakfast in Old Montreal. It tends to be busy with both locals and tourists. I went in the low season and was one of the few places that was full.

This place is always packed so I make sure to arrive before noon and order my food to go. Everything is good. Their specialty is soup, salad of the day, and sandwiches. The bread is homemade. They have mac& cheese with truffle that I simply have to have a few times every winter. It comes with a small salad and... More

Cool, trendy crowd enjoying delicious lunch/ brunch in Old Montreal. Decor is cozy, warm and crowded. Menu is limited but still very good choices. A bit pricier but not over the top. Great spot for lunch on a cold winter's day. Well done!

Good location, nice decor, atmosphere, great service, limited menu options but what they did have was very good. We would recommend it and return there for sure.

or be prepare to wait. The wait is well worth it though. The cuban toasted panini is excellent. We also picked up some almond croissants and I really liked the Palmiers too. Note: we wanted to try the chocolate croissant but on both days, they were sold out of it by noon !

Every meal that I've enjoyed at Olive&Gourmando has been outstanding. Today, I had their grilled cheese (amazing!!') accompanied by a homemade tomato-chipotle soup with pesto and pumpkin seeds on top. A perfect meal for a cold rainy day. They also make hearty and tasty salads as well as delectable baked goods. Highly recommended for breakfast and lunch.

I arrived early afternoon by myself and they found me a spot on a bar by the windows at this little eatery in Old Montreal. (A tour guide had recommended them earlier in the week.) Service was friendly. English was spoken. The place was packed. The food was traditional breakfast/brunch fare with a twist.

This is a well-located, crowded sandwich spot in old Montreal. Most of the diners were locals, always a good recommendation.

My first time there yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Popular with locals this coffee shop, eatery has delicious soup, sandwiches, panini, sweets, wine and beer. It is a perfect spot in Old Montreal to drop by, if you are lucky you will be able to secure a space to sit and eat. We were 9 ladies on a Wednesday... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
