We arrived at the restaurant at 4pm on a Saturday after a theatre performance. I realize we did not have reservations but I did not think 4pm would be a busy time; and we were not planning to stay for hours. We were seated a few tables from the front window. We asked to wait a few minutes to order... More

This restaurant never dissapoints - fantastic meals, perfect ambiance and outstanding service. We showed up an a very busy evening with one too many people for our reservation and table. The owner made sure we had our drinks and by the time we finished our drinks, arrangements were made to ensure we could all eat together. The board specials are... More

If you are just looking for a great surprise meal in a casual comfortable setting and a nice wine list; this is a wonderful option. I opted for the chef's specials - fresh grilled calamari with a chipotle sauce. It was cooked right and the chipotle gave it just the right kick. The cajun tilapia was on a bed of... More

Everyone in my party enjoyed this restaurant. We had good, friendly service and all of the dishes chosen were regarded as very tasty. There were so many tempting "specials" posted on the wall and described to us by the waitress it was hard to decide what to pick. I had the ravioli with jalapeño. The pasta was hand made and... We have now made several pre theatre dinner visits both with and without reservations and enjoyed ourselves. This spot is always packed and hopping yet all of our seating arrangements have been comfortable and somehow intimate where conversation is easily carried on. The serving staff is efficient and very friendly. All meals including sides have been delicious and satisfying but... More

On the outside this place doesn't look much but the food is amazing as is the We went pretty late as we had just arrived form Calgary and after dumping our bags in our room we needed somewhere open late that does quick food. Even arriving at 10:30 they still managed to accommodate us then and made us feel very... More

Love Kit Kat. We have been fans for some time (Hi Al!). Italian food, open kitchen, hustle and bustle of the GTA's theatre district. Always a great selection of daily specials. The kitchen can modify to accommodate anyone's dietary restrictions on the fly. The service is very good, and you will rarely be out of sight of your server. The... More

Kit Kat has been around for ages, and has survived when many other places in the theatre district have turned over. It is open for lunch through dinner - useful if you have an early performance to attend or want a late lunch. Service can be uneven depending on how busy it is. The food - including daily specials -... More

Went on a Saturday night. In the heart of the theatre district so it was very busy. Had a reservation but had to wait about 25 minutes. Once seated, service was fast and efficient. If you go, make sure you ask about the specials. We had a stuffed calamari appy that was outstanding. Good wine selection. If you are looking... More

We popped in early on a Sunday evening without reservations. The place was busy but we were seated right away at a shared table which is always fine with me. My friends filled me in on the long history of the restaurant and I enjoyed the small, busy, vibe. Pasta was recommended as a specialty and I had the penne... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
