Anywhere that has 8 on cask, in good condition gets a 5 star from me!...This is a basement pub with a great atmosphere. A superb range of beers, both keg and cask...all available in either pint, half pint or 1 third of a pint, the way it should be!. I can't remember which beers I had now but they were... More

We have dined at C'est What probably 50 times in the last ten years. We just keep going back because: beer and food! Both so good. The food is prepared from scratch and it shows. The beer selection is vast and changes frequently. You just can't go wrong! Service is always quick and attentive. So many times we have been... More

A local friend of mine took us here for dinner/drinks and we loved it! The food was awesome, hearty and delivered in a timely manner. They had a great beer list but sadly were out of some I wanted to try. The upcoming beer list looked amazing too. The atmosphere is nice, quiet but fun. Service was great - I'd... More

We visited a second time after being here a few months ago. The beer was fantastic, so many choices and a very knowledgeable staff to guide you through the menu. They offer three sizes of drafts which allows for experimentation. We had a variety of appetizers, all very good. Highly recommend C'est what !

It's hard to imagine all this sits below, the city. Exposed brick, pool, food, amazing selection of beers. Sampled several varieties and settled on a nice lager and one of the cask ales. So many choices to enjoy. Must stop if you have worked up a thirst.

Went to 'C'est What' with friends on a recommendation from other friends. Found decent pub food, with LOTS of vegetarian options, a very cool downstairs setting and perhaps the best craft beer selection I saw in Toronto. They make a few of their own beers and otherwise focus on local, small, true "craft" beer. A winner if you love good... More

Located in the St Lawrence Market area, this basement location within a historical building offers a great wide array of fantastic craft beers including a specialty listing. I had an Imperial Porter and a Russian Imperial Stout. Both were FANTASTIC. For food I had the beef ribs that were excellent - very tender, slow cooked, and tasty. The restaurant has... More

Extensive craft beer list, excellent food, and great atmosphere. You can't go wrong with C'est What! I'd recommend ordering the classic poutine or the buffalo burger, and trying one of their collaboration brews. It can get quite busy, so if you've got a big group coming, you may need to wait for a bit, but they'll give you a beeper... More

We decided to go to this pub for an evening with friends. We ate most appetizers and they were quite good. I have a soy allergy so I could not eat some things but all tastes by me and others were good. Wine list was Canadian but good. Love mallvoire Chardonnay. Great choice.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
