We were there this past Saturday evening. The restaurant was humming, but still had a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed great sea food and wonderful service!

Zee Grill is the type of place I have walked by for many years as there are no windows to the street and a rather innocuous sign, "Phoebes Zee Grill"- What a mistake! Although the decor is very understated the busy kitchen in the front of the restaurant produces the most delicious approachable food. Everything on the menu is delicious... More

Zee Grill is a perennial favourite. Whether enjoying oysters (they carry many different farms, including from PEI and Massachusetts.), the appetizers (the cone of fries with aoli and the crab cakes are delicious) or the entrees (always a fresh fish special) you will be delighted. The desserts are made in house. The lemon ice cream bar - comprised of meringue... More

First of all, look for the big red round sign that says "Phoebe" with "Zee" in smaller letters, and you're there! Warm welcome, cozy friendly atmosphere, and excellent service with a smile. Inventive salads and appetizers to start. And the tuna was extraordinary! Nice wine selection at different price points. We chose a Portuguese Vinho Verde, which is a light... More

Haven't been here for awhile but returned recently to have dinner with a friend. This is a cozy spot serving a variety of seafood. We did have a reservation and were slightly distressed to see we had been placed at a small table way at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was not full. We should have asked for... More

My crusted ahi tuna was excellent; so we're my wife's scallops. The crab cakes and mushroom croquettes we had as starters were also fine, as were our desserts. The service could have been a bit better: refilling empty water glasses is part of the job. On the whole, however, our dinner was very, very good: 4.5 out of 5.

We chose this restaurant for a family get-together. We were comfortably seated in a cozy environment. Initial salads and starters were excellent. The catch of the day..Pacific Salmon was a little overcooked but good as was the house version of fish and chips. The menu is limited and could be expanded. The wine list was extensive but had few "by... More

Zee Grill is a neighbourhood institution that has been in business since 1981. For a restaurant to survive for more than 30 years they have to do many things well and I experienced this during my recent visit. The menu has a very strong emphasis on fish and seafood - don't come here if you're not a fan of this... More

I ordered the 1.5 pound lobster which at best was 1 pound. I'm very familiar with lobster being from a lobster town on the east coast. The special in the roasted pumpkin lacked the abundance of seafood as described by the waiter and was just bland overall. Sea bass was ok. Vegetable side was boring to say the least. Only... More

Had not been there in decades. The service was fantastic. Quick, friendly and able to "read" us quickly. Not a cheap place to go but a good solid menu. Had the oysters. Just beautiful. Would go back for something else to try.

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
