We went to this venue under the suggestion of a friend and were not disappointed. We happened to stumble in on a "Winterlicious" Menu evening and the pre-fixe options were wonderful. There were options for all kinds of tastes and at a great price ($38CAD for three full courses). The appetizers we tried were the shrimp and the duck prosciutto... More

Went to Rosewater for a Winterlicious lunch today and I AM NOT IMPRESSED at all. It has a nice ambiance, walls, chairs blablabla - but food didn't cut it for me. Apart for pretentious looking plates.... - appetizer said Almond Crusted Tiger Shrimp....well - it was three regular size shrimps on a plate - with slivers of almonds sprinkled around... More

I came here with some co-workers to sample the winterlicious menu for lunch. It's a very spacious restaurant with two floors. For appetizers, I had the artichoke soup and my colleagues had the tiger shrimp. Both were delicious! For the main course we each had something different: I had the beef rib, one person got the salmon and one person... More

Let me start by saying that I'm a regular at the Rosewater, but usually for drinks on their popular nights. I had never actually eaten there before until taking the opportunity to go to have a winterlicious lunch there with my co-workers. I booked through Opentable for 10 people...easy peezy. The restaurant called me 2 days before to confirm my... More

The Rosewater is located in an elegant historical building, fitted with modern decor. We thoroughly enjoyed the Morrocan Grilled Lamb Chops and the Strip Loin Steak. The taste was truly outstanding, but the presentation was not very inspirational. In other restaurants of this calibre, a waiter needs to explain the outlandish items on your plate, but here, we were dealing... More

This place as you walk in looks very beautiful, the decor, the details on the walls and ceilings, the juxtaposition of modern and antique in one place, the high ceilings, the private rooms.. these are all pros! Overall the experience was great and we had a good server. A few things that keep it from being 5-stars on my list... More

I held a business panel discussion at Rosewater for the financial services industry recently in their upstairs private event room. The event planner was very helpful and so was the staff. The room is a grand looking, large room. We had it set up for a panel discussion with auditorium seating for 150 people and still had room at the... More

Came here during winterlicious and it was divine. It's in the middle of nowhere on Ontario street, about a 5-10 minute walk from city hall. Once we came, we were served right away at the front of the restaurant. Because of its popularity, there were no seats in the dining room. The problem with that was at the time my... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
