We had just landed in Toronto after an 8 hour flight and with no sleep decided to zig-zag across Toronto and found the Queen Mother Cafe. What attracted us to pop in was the busy tables and menu and we were not disappointed. We first of all enjoyed a gin and tonic in the garden/yard and when food was ready... More

We found this unique place on Queen St and with an opening line forming + recommendations from long time patrons + delightful brunch menu, We had to try it - Offering early century charm, it had a varied menu of brunch favourites and international dishes. We opted for an omelette & BLT with eggs. Both portions were large and delicious... More

We spent three days in Toronto and only stopped here on a whim, as we were shopping nearby. What a happy accident! The staff was warm and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious. The meals exceeded expectations. I had the Ping Gai chicken and it was the best thing I put in my mouth this trip. My companion had the Pad... More

The service is fast. The alcohol is decent. Most important is that it opens until 1 am in the weekends. When I need a late bite, Korean BBQ (beside) and this Cafe are my choices. A bit less busy than Korean BBQ and the inside environment is better.

The outside may look nothing special but the food is outstanding! The menu caters for most tastes from Canadian classics to their very special Thai dishes. Very authentic oriental flavours, and all at bargain prices. Good, friendly service as well. Would recommend.

Since it opened in the late 70's this has been my favourite go-to Toronto café for a host of reasons: unique, creative, fabulous food, a wonderful space that has grown over the years and remained comfortable in every season, a varied clientele that keeps the energy wonderful and local art. (I'm one of the countless artists this Toronto icon has... More

I found it. I am ALWAYs searching my heart out for that place that has everything; A place that oozes with ambience without making it look like hard work - I know it is, but I don't want to know that. A place that has interesting people working there that actually does it because they love food and the entire... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
