Went here for lunch with a friend a couple of months ago. It was so delightful, my husband and I went back for dinner. Simply French. The food is outstanding. This is such a quaint space. We will be back for sure

Lunch for three, there was a mistake in the booking but that was sorted by friendly management. Thanks. The specials were well cooked and seasonal and good quality. Seating is a little tight but not bad. An enjoyable lunch. Asparagus soup and fillet of trout for the main and a delicious Choccy mousse.

We happened to come across this gem by accident. The whole experience was wonderful. The staff is authentic and fluent in French. It was wonderful and the food was delicious. Our server, Olivier was perfect. We will visit again!

This restaurant has been here for years, first introduced by my high school French teacher. It has only improved over the years. Service is excellent, professional yet friendly. Staff are authentic, fluent in French. The food and desert are simply excellent, French cuisine at its best in a nice casual setting. The Omelettes are varied and very good but choose... More

This is a lovely family run business has been running for over 30years . Very French and pleasant staff with an excellent menu at fair prices. Upstairs off Cumberland easy to get to but slightly hidden which adds to it's charm. Not pretentious or stuffy but very homey.

This was my first time at Jacques and can't believe I didn't know of it before. There are few places in Toronto where you can have an authentic French (not Quebecois) experience and this is one of them. The place isn't large and so things are a tight fit, but that's part of the charm (think Paris cafe but indoors).... More

My boyfriend and I came here for a Valentine's Day/Birthday dinner and our experience was so special! I was searching for French restaurants in Toronto and was particularly trying to avoid any sort of chain or high-end locations. This unassuming bistro caught my eye online as I realized the patrons seem to genuinely care for authentic food and quality service... More

I have been dining at Jacques Bistro since the 1980s. My friends and I meet there monthly. I travel the world and have yet to find delicious food served more graciously.

Superb bistro lunch. Absolutely French, right down to the baguette and sweet butter. Cozy ambience. Service is not rushed. We will definitely return for dinner.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
