Italian cuisine is the theme of this restaurant that tries to help fill the void of fine dining options in this node of the city. We were a large group and there were several options chosen from the menu so I could observe the general quality of the dishes and response of those eating them. Quantity was generally satisfying, quality... More

Fabulous food, and great wine menu. Attentive and fun wait staff. We dropped in late on a Wednesday night and didn't need reservations, but it's highly recommended on the weekend. My guy had the Zupa di Pesce (outstanding!), and I had the gamberoni and scallops al vino bianco (also outstanding!). We shared a very good bottle of wine, and had... More

Donatello is a little set back from the busy streets, nice short walk from Yonge Street. The service was great from the start. The waiter had great knowledge of the menu items and daily specials. I had the Atlantic salmon and fettuccine pasta alfredo, the fish was cooked perfectly was moist and fresh. Good selection of pasta, fish and meat... More

The food at Donatello's is amazing and the service excellent. There are a couple of things you need to know, though, so you will enjoy your dining experience. We dined here on a Saturday evening, and this restaurant is small and becomes extremely noisy. Plan to dine before 7:00 p.m. when the crowd arrives if you prefer a quiet atmosphere... More

We were looking for somewhere to eat near the Chelsea Hotel and this place was just across the street. It looked authentic and busy on a weekday evening but they were happy to find a table for four without a reservation. The service was friendly and the menu extensive. The bread deserves a special mention - it was so lovely... More

We were staying at the Marriott hotel and this restaurant is a few blocks away. The menu is extensive along with the bar. The food is way above averaged and the service is most attentive. It is busy so advance reservations are suggested. All items ordered were tasty and overall this restaurant is a sure thing. It is located near... More

Even the crab ravioli is filled with 90% fresh cooked crab. Fresh salmon was seared at the end to give outside a lovely crunch. Wonderful expert service. Relaxed atmosphere. We got a table at 5pm but people arriving at 7 were out of luck. They take reservations. Beautiful part of Toronto. Safe at night.

My favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto! Absolutely delicious. Try the gnocchi with their signature sauce.

Excellent Italian restaurant right downtown. Small and cozy dining area perfect for a family meal or a cozy anniversary dinner. 5 minute walk from Eaton Center. Short regular menu but huge daily special offerings. The food was superb and the staff were fabulous. A "must do" in Toronto.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
