My friends and I were looking for a brunch spot that was open on New Year's day and were happy to find the Bloor Street Diner had tables available. We did make a reservation but unfortunately found that the tables are arranged in such a manner that it makes it difficult to walk around other tables on the way to... More

I have been going for Sunday brunch for many years. However, I was disappointed with Sunday brunch. The quality of food has gone downhill. The two pasta hot meal were bad.

According to it's website, the Bloor Street Diner has been voted the best French Bistro in Toronto. This can only mean a) the diners of Toronto are not terribly discerning or b) it's the only French bistro in the city. I don't think either can be true and therefore am more than a little sceptical. Five of us ate and... More

Fabulous spot when going to a movie at Manulife Cineplex, particularly of a freezing cold night, where you can park the car under ground, have a reasonable meal, cost & quality wise, go to the movie, get validated parking and pay $3 for it.

Moved into the neighbourhood a while back, and one spring evening while sauntering down Yonge St we started looking for a place to eat and stopped in for a quick burger. While pricey the burger was really quite good and the service was also above par. We also had some appetizers while waiting and everything was tasty. Walked here the... More

The meal was excellent and the server was spunky yet professional. I would return to this restaurant in the future.

Our business group had made a reservation a week in advance, but when we arrived we were told that we would not be served unless we agreed to pay by one bill. It took 20 minutes and a consultation with the manager to allow us to pay separately. There were many complaints about the food: the "shrimp salad" arrived with... More

This trendy restaurant with great pseudo-Parisian ambiance at 55 Bloor Street West is located right in the heart of downtown Toronto and borders Yorkville at the corner of Bay and Bloor Streets, so it's a popular area in which to see and be seen. It was quite busy the Thursday my friend and I went there for lunch on her... More

I ordered a spinach salad. Cost was $15 for a small (lunch plate size) of spinach leaves, a few pecans and a thin slice of cheese in quarters, with dressing. That's it. Add a bit of chicken or salmon and the price becomes $22. Poor value.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
