It was my dream to try Ethiopian food. The place I chose was well learned by me and I was ready to see it. The food is totally new and unusual , it's quite similar with Indian one, but still be very authentic. The restaurant is accurate inside, but don't expect luxury. Portions are not big enough. I liked the... More

Arrived just before 5 pm on a Saturday in order to avoid any crowds but there were a few empty tables. I thought from other reviews that it might take some time to get served but the food arrived within 10 minutes and I had to call partner on cell to tell him to hurry into the resto! The dish... I love the Lalibela ethiopian fare... It's delicious & nutritious! Enjoy the lentil soup with the gluten~free injera (teff flat bread)... or sample our favourite, the veggie platter for two gives you a chance to explore so many satisfying flavours. And yes, you eat with your hands, no problem. Just roll up the injera & dip away! If there's room... More

My husband, daughter and I recently ate at Lalibela for the first time and were happily impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the service. Between the three of us we shared two large tasting platters and found everything delicious. The lentil dishes were fantastic and the spicy doro wat was mouth-wateringly yummy. We were a bit worried that service... More

I have dined here solo, i have brought my best friend, my father also once and decided to bring the BF finally to try this fantastic place out. They had a renovation done since last time i been here and place looks even more amazing now. My personal favorite is of course the signature platter they serve as other Ethiopian... More

Visited Lalibela last week-end (November 11, 2016). The food is very good and imparts traditional Ethiopian flavor. I wish I could say the same about the service! The service is exceptionally poor and the waits are too long even to take the first drink order. The food sort of overcame this negativitiy.

We came here because our absolute favourite Ethiopian restaurant down the street, Nazareth, was closed. We decided to give this place a shot! Everything was great until a massive cockroach showed up. We were mortified at first when we saw it run past our table on the wall we were sitting against. Then we realized it's still summer so maybe... More

I loved going to this place during my time in Toronto. The staff are very friendly and the food is mouth-watering. Everything I have tried here was simply delicious. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food before, I suggest you order a large platter with a combination of meat, veggies and lentils. At the end of the meal, don't forget to... More

I love this place. Been coming here for over 10 years and the only sad thing is that based on my last visit there seem to be more non-Ethiopians eating here (used to be the Ethiopians were the vast majority). The value remains outstanding.

Really delicious Ethiopian food. The service was friendly, food and drinks delicious – great place to stop in for food. We ordered the mixed platter, which allowed us to sample a few dishes, and you get extra injera to eat it with as well as the one it is served on. Will be back if we’re ever back in Toronto!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
