Walked in without a reservation and we were warmly greeted and seated at a very nice table for two. William, our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered from the fixed price menu and we were not disappointed. The grilled sardines and goat cheese salad were delicious. Lamb shank and duck confit are two of our favorite meals and... More

Hello Mr. Teixeira, Upon receiving your main courses, our server made sure to ask how everything was. She confirmed both you and your guest replied it was good. If either dish were not to your satisfaction, we would have been more than happy to replace it, should you had given us the opportunity. Confirmation with the chef ensured the steak... More

Today was our first time dining at the extravagant Via Norte. Our server, Udo was absolutely spectacular. He promptly greeted us, in a welcoming and cheerful manner. He recommended a Portuguese martini, which was sweet and refreshing. Our entrees were great, which consisted of the braised lamb, the grilled sirloin with fried egg and the crusted salmon were to die... More

We had a great dinner at Via Norte and the food was so flavourful. There was quite a large selection including the day's specials. The portion sizes for the meats were surprisingly large and the starters were delicious. The service overall was very good although a tiny bit slow at times which was surprising as the restaurant was not full.... More

Had never been to this restaurant but based on the reviews decided to give it a try. We are from Florida and were visiting TO on a golf holiday. We were quite familiar with the restaurant scene on College having lived in Toronto for 4 years and are fond of Portuguese cuisine. So it was off to Via Norte. The... More

My wife and I went out for our 20th anniversary to enjoy wonderful Portuguese food. The best part was how wonderful our waiter Udo was. We told him our plans of visiting Portugal and he was so exited to help us find all the great place to see, eat and visit. Thanks Udo you made our 20th very special.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
