It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I love it! I ordered the vegetarian platter and my friend ordered the meat platter. The platters are quite large. I couldn't finish all my food, so I would recommend sharing a platter for 2 people. I also like eating with my hands, but it does get kind of messy. I... More

2/3 guests arrived, waitress/owner on hearing third was expected, ignored us presumably waiting until friend showed up? Had to go to kitchen to flag service for appetizers & drinks while waiting. The veggie samosas and single dipping sauce were delicious. Ordered for all three of us. When second wave of food arrived we put in a few more drinks orders.... More

I had the great pleasure of having my first Ethiopian food experience at this wonderful restaurant. The food was tremendous, the atmosphere was intimate, and the espresso was absolutely delicious. If your in the mood for something different yet a little bit familiar, looks delicious but tastes even better, then I definitely recommend the African Palace.

My daughter and I are like Anthony Bourdain. We love food so we'll try anything once...but only if it's vegetarian. Ok Anthony loves meat but you know what I mean. So birthday dinner this year was ethiopian. We had the vegetarian platter and my husband had the beef tibs. The novelty of eating with your hands was fun and I... More

Every time I come here with friends we get a giant veggie platter to share. It's incredible and not a single person has been disappointed. Even the Canadian meat and potato types can really enjoy this Ethiopian vegan meal. Great prices. Awesome service. Their samosas are to die for! :)

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
