We wanted to grab something to eat before our daughters flight to Cambodia so we're relieved to see Caplansky 's right beside her check in counter. We regularly go to Montreal for good deli & love Pancer's in Toronto but haven't heard much about Caplanskys , however location is everything so we decided to order a turkey & cheese sandwich... Delicious food, family friendly, easy-going experience. The "Jewish gravy" is the best thing I've ever tasted. My toddler was gobbling it up on anything we dipped it in.

Visited the Airport location before heading to Mexico. Was excited as I listen to Zane on 1010 radio and love his passion for food so figured the experience would be one to remember. Ordered the smoked meat sandwich on its own and received a small sandwich with poor amount of meat on rye....really small for over 10 dollars with tip.... More

Great food prepared and done right. Paying respect to Jewish tradition; this iconic deli does a diverse selection of dishes. Love the variety from knish, to latkes, to their Rueben sandwich. Has to be one on the leanest brisket sandwiches I have ever had. Great to have the TO GON counter.

Caplansky's Deli is a great place for lunch and very popular. All the food is fresh, from the salads to the coffee, and the portions generous. As soon as you walk in on a winter's day, the aroma hits you of their eastern European specialties. I can recommend the split pea soup, Greek salad and smoked turkey, but there are... More

Usually LOVE visiting here before heading out on a trip, but this Boxing Day at Pearson was a disaster. It was terribly understaffed. We finally left seated area after no service for an extended period of time and just went to order in the take-out line, as we were going to be too late for our flight due to the... More

I am not normally a fan of French toast, but the menu made it sound so delicious that I had to order it. I wasn't disappointed. There are three slices of toast with a layer of cream cheese and a layer of blueberry sauce and enough maple syrup that I was sticky to the wrists (it's a mystery to me... More

This is a friendly spot we wandered into by chance on a cold mid-week afternoon. Smoked meat on rye comfort food was called for and well delivered, with a mountain of excellent fries. Two of us couldn’t finish one portion. I wish the cut of smoked meat had been as generous. Not bad for Toronto, but definitely not what you’d... More

My husband and I have visited Caplansky's a few times and I always enjoy my meal. We visited this time with friends from the States and they agree, Caplansky's is a keeper. Amongst the group we had the kreplach, kishke, matzo ball soup, cabbage borscht. pickles and brisket. The food is good and there are precious few delis in Toronto... More

An attractive interior & seating outside. Service is very good & swift. Cody was the best1 The Rubenesque was outstanding as was the small Greek side salad full of many different ingredients. Everything was tasty & fresh. Location close to Kensington Market is ideal.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
