Tasty breakfast cookie with can't miss lattes and teas...even the rather odd-looking green tea chocolate chip cookie is a hit. So glad this is so close to work!

Lots of great coffee shops in Toronto but this may be the best latte ever. Also love the card where the 11th beverage is free.

We stopped in at Manic for fresh coffee, homemade pastries and friendly service. Have been here before and the quality and consistency is still high. Nice atmosphere and no-pressure time limits.

The ambiance of the café is good. I had a coffee and a croissant; CAD5.25 total, a bit expensive than expected. The food (the croissant and coffee) was average.

A cosy coffee shop with friendly staff and decent prices. We had some cappuccinos and a chai latte. Do try the Gelato - They have a very fine selection and serve generously. This is a great place to catch up with friends. Food : 4/5 Ambience : 4/5 Service: 4/5

Toronto is full of indie coffee shops and there always seems to be new ones popping up everywhere. Manic is just down the street from our office and has become a regular go to for us to get our daily caffeine fix. I always get the Cappuccino - one of the best I've had in the area. Also try the... This used to be our favorite coffee shop. Unfortunately, they have had a large turnover in their staff lately. The last couple of visits, the lattes were served almost cold. Worse, the baker who made their delightful scones has also left. So now they serve scones brought from outside the coffee shop. They are just not the same quality. Add... More

Do not go out of your way to visit Manic unless you want AVERAGE. I came here in July because they are/were known for their Clover machine. The owner said he didn't have it anymore but that he's working on something that will blow my mind. Today, FIVE MONTHS later, an employee said they don't have the clover and they're... More

This quickly became our favourite stop for 'elevensies' when we were visiting Toronto recently. The coffee is excellent, and the staff very friendly and helpful. It's got a nice calm buzz to the place, and you can enjoy a conversation where you can actually hear yourself speak (hurrah!) or focus on some creative work. We will be back!!!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
