Made reservations for family of 15 people with no problem. The waitress was awesome very friendly and prompt service. The soup and salad bar is exceptional and the homemade buns are to die for! Everything on the menu is excellent and cooked to perfection. Prices are a bit high but the delicious food and great service is well worth the... More

Never mind your carb-free diet. Come to the Prospector for buns. And local beef. And a salad bar from the '70s. And great service. A Lakehead tradition! Seriously, meet up with locals and find out why northern Ontario is one of Canada's best-kept secrets.

Recently went for supper at The Prospector and had their Prime Rib, best in town. Cooked to perfection. Prime Rib with salad bar was very good. Service was excellent.

The Prospector has been a staple in downtown Port Arthur for many years. I have been going since they first opened and the food is consistently good. They use local meats and vegetables as much as possible and bake their own delicious buns. The prime rib is legendary but everything in the menu is top notch.

Our experience started in the bar as there were no tables free. So we waited in the bar for one to open up. "We have to run a separate tab just so you know" which as I inquired further is because they can't keep track well enough to simply add the drink in the bar to your cheque... and downhill... More

Sat for twenty minutes waiting for a drink. Got my entree at the same time. Great food and atmosphere but poor service.

Just went in last Friday and the new layout had me a bit miffed! What was wrong with the old layout? Your food is still beautiful cooked but suggest using a whole lot less butter on the vegetables or how about steaming them for a healthy choice. well always come back for the bronto bones but could you figure out... We were here on a Wednesday night and enjoyed our surf and turf meal. The shrimp was crusted w/ a wonderful seasoning and my prime rib melted in my mouth. The mixed vegetable were a little overdone but all else was wonderful. The 7oz Lobster tail, really is 7oz and delicious. The salad bar will fill you up so be... More

Food was very good (not spectacular) but portions are generous. My husband ordered the half rack of ribs and could not finish them. I had a chicken pasta dish and brought enough home for 2 more meals. Highly recommend the Portuguese "house" wine - very nice. The restaurant has been renovated, especially the soup and salad bar area. The soup... More
