Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for lunch/brunch today hoping to try the chowder. No luck. weekends is brunch only until 2. I had the fishcakes and my daughter had the breakfast burrito. Both were great. Real fishcakes with chunks of fish and potatoes.. Will have to go back another...day for the chowder. Fast friendly service.More

Went for supper tonight with my daughter and her boyfriend. Friendly greeting, great service and great food. I had the special Brie Merry burger. Best burger I've had in years. My daughter loved her classic burger and her boyfriend really enjoyed the mac and cheese....All 3 of us said we were very pleased and will return. Only downside is they only have about 5 or 6 parking spots.More

It is a bit out of the downtown core but the food was delicious. If you have a car and want to experience great food then this place is well worth the drive. Friendly staff and a great selection of food to choose from. My...husband had the chowder which was filled seafood and not fillers. I had the halibut sandwich. Both were excellent.More

Everyone in our family enjoyed their meal. Fish 'n chips, halibut dinner, and 2 kids meals. We also enjoyed milkshakes, scooped ice cream, and the banana cream pie. Great service and cute diner setting.

Ate brunch here. Busy spot, we arrived shortly before 1pm on a Sunday and had to wait 5-7 mins to get a table for three. We were a bit surprised to receive only the brunch menu at this time of day (would have preferred the...regular menu) but the food was still great. Our table had the breakfast burger and two different breakfast bowls, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our only complaint is that the milkshakes were a bit small for the price. There don't seem to be any accurate online menus available right now, FYI. The regular (non-brunch) menu posted at the door was different than anything I found online prior to the visit. Will visit again!More

Quality homemade food at its finest! We had the halibut and the haddock ‐ both were delicious. Service by Jack was exceptional. Don't forget to have the apple crisp!

The restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside. The service was good. The chicken club was quite good. 👍👍

I’ve been here off and on over the last 20 years. I recently moved closer and with working from home, having more time to walk etc have been here 5 or 6 times in the past 4 months. We really enjoy this restaurant- great food...(quality, preparation and portion size), reasonably priced, good variety and excellent service. Last night we discovered a fantastic dessert too. Kudos to the entire team there!More

We went to recreate a 1960s birthday experience of burgers and milkshakes, eating out on a summer's evening. Finding family restaurants that still make milkshakes in this part of the world is a chore, but the Armview still has them on the menu, and "delicious"...was the verdict. Two of us went for burgers -- one the classic, the other the lamb while another went from the beer batter fish and chips. The burgers were tasty and full of meat, made even better by the late day sunshine on the patio deck. The fish was good, but a little oily into the second portion. The fries were perfect and the Caesar salad was reasonable. The mains were so filling that we had no room for dessert. To be polite, the service was "relaxed" but it did provide a chance to watch large servings of nacho chips and of steamed mussels to waft by the table. Instant salivation. As to drinks, the milk shake was traditional and tasty, while the Armview Pale Ale, brewed for the restaurant, was a flavourful accompaniment to the meal. For those who want conversation and tranquility during dinner, eat indoors; the passing (muffler-challenged) motorcycles, impatient or incompetent motorists, and the sheer volume of passing vehicles (a result of road closures nearby) sometimes took the edge off the relaxation. But we would go back to explore the menu further. Did we recreate the 1968 birthday experience? For the most part, yes. Kudos to the owners for sourcing their meat locally.More

One of our favorite restaurants in Halifax, it's worth braving the Armadale Rotary to get here. Parking is not easy and their lot is small. This restaurant offers something that will appeal to most people. There are burgers, stir fry, liver & onion, mac&cheese, and...fish and chips and many other items. We had the medium order of fish and chips which consisted of two large pieces of fish (very good). Our friends had the hamburger (very good) and the Mac & cheese (spicy and different). There is outdoor seating as well as booths inside. The service was good and the staff friendly. The order arrived nice and hot. A variety of wines and beers are available. Prices are very reasonable.More

1st. off, the waiter ( male) was not friendly at all, left us in the middle of our order to check if his other customer's were ok. Thought that was very rude, I had fish & chips they were not too bad, 1 person had...the chowder, what a waste, was terrible, had barely anything in it, and had NO TASTE whatsoever. So sad that such an old icon of the city slipped that far behind. Not much of a menu either. Probably won't ever go back or refer it to anybody..And really over-priced for the lack of quality.More
